Being recognised
« on: 18 April 2008, 12:58:33 pm »
Just wondered, has anyone ever had the experience of being recognised through their pictures online? This is my biggest fear! I want to guage how common it is!

Also, how do you guys handle being recognised on the job? And have any of you ever been found out?

These are my biggest fears, so I'd like to hear some other people's experiences!!

Hi there!

I don't show my face and haven't been recognised by my pictures; it took a sworn-to-secrecy ex-colleague to shout the news all around town (my website is now apparently available in paper hand-out format at my former workplace, although I suspect that it's just the titty-pictures rather than the text which I worked hard on for a week!) So I have been 'found out' and as I live in a fairly small town, it is a little disconcerting, although it remains to be seen whether it affects my business (I don't actually know that many people here outside my circle of close friends, plus I'm very discreet and sadly, pretty ordinary-looking!) And I haven't been chased down the street with burning torches - yet.

If someone thinks they recognise you from your photos (and you are not showing your face/making it clear it's you) I would say lie and brazen it out - don't back down. You could act surprised that whoever collars you was looking at that sort of website in the first place. Act offended too, the moral high ground is always a good place to be, whether you're entitled to be or not (at least the people who regularly take it always seem very pleased with themselves).

Think about what you would do/say if you did get exposed and practice it. You have nothing to be ashamed of and the majority of people are probably jealous of the money you're earning etc. I must admit that I can afford to be less bothered because my family do not live in the same town as me and I genuinely do not know what I would do if my dad found out, although I can see myself telling my mum one day and would be interested to know how others have approached this. Sorry for waffling!

Hope this helps! AMY xxx

people often ask this as i hold down a f/t job and have a family.but i am single and what i do is not illegal,so apart from others high moral ground,i don't have any concerns.
At least I don't go to nightclubs on a weekend, get slaughtered and wind up giving it away to all+sundry with no protection etc.

Then make sure you can't be! No facial shots without masking, no other identifying features (whether on you, e.g tattoos, or in the background). Plausible deniability doesn't take much.

Some of the pictures some people use stagger me - containing views of family photos, or with some particularly stupid men, 'you can trust me, look, here's me with the kids'.

*Touch wood*. I've never been recognised, but I do remember a year or so ago receiving an email from someone who said they thought they'd seen me at the mall near me. I hide my face now and did so then so I'm not sure which part of me he thought he may have recognised. That was a little creepy but I didn't reply and I've never heard from them since.

I did once recognise another escort who lived quite near me. I'm not sure if she recognised me herself from the days when I did used to show my face. But as she looked very similar to her pics on-line (and she shows her face) she was definitely recognisable.

I have tats and I've had my pics taken so that they're hard to spot. I've had the one on my boob photoshopped out as it's quite recognisable close-up.
I make sure that I look as far removed from my on-line persona as possible. I don't look like your every day whore so that helps. Last week I had no choice but have a customer see me in my "civvies". He looked at me and said "God, if I'd seen you on the street I'd never have known". That's what you want to hear.
