Tours for us that have not toured are pretty daunting.

I have to go to Manchester in June. I would like to go a few days earlier and work.
I also see tours as a good way to earn cash through the summer school holidays, if you have a reliable sitter that is. I do have one. So, tours for me would be easier than work from home in the summertime.

My question is this. If your touring a city and have never been there before, how do you go about drumming up interest? Obviously slap it on your site and on the adult sites, but does it really garner interest?Advertise on the usual sites AW, or try the Daily Sport! Just to get the flow started.

Should I be advertising now for Manchester even though it's not until June?
How do you get the guys to want to book you in a city that is not your city when they have escorts that live there that there they are probably using? It is a bit too early to advertise, about a week before is good.

The airport thing.
It crossed my mind that these hotels have people only staying a night. Do you get the eyebrow when you book in for longer than a night?Max two nights at an airport hotel, just find out how many hotels are around the airport, so you can move around if you are in the area for more than a few days.

Even though you're the queen of touring, in this respect I would have to disagree with you, especially considering the current economic climate. I can't speak for the papers but for t'internet I bear in mind now that if guys are going to treat themselves I would advertise about a month beforehand (certainly whack it on my site and put it on the PN tour board), give them time to squirrel away for an hour or two, especially if it's funds to be hidden from the rest of the household bills.

But I know you take a lot of last minute bookings, not to mention the paper bookings. I guess I prefer the certainty of having at least a couple of bookings before I go. Unless it's somewhere I'm going to be anyway.

See I was thinking the same thing because on the 3 tours I've been to so far, I advertised a week in advance and it just doesnt pan out as well as I think it should have. I mean, I would get a couple calls...but most of the time would be quiet. I was expecting to do the marathon 4-5 bookings per day like I hear y'all talk about!

So at this point, a month in advance for me cos I cant afford to be loosing money on tours like I've done lately. I think it takes about a month for most people to see you as some may not log onto these websites every week. Now if I was going to New York...I'd just show up on a moment's notice cause if I dont get internet prescence I can walk the streets or hop on the phone sex lines!

This place sucks  :(

Well I disagree too - I don't know if was me that Joey is referring to in his post earlier, but I am visiting London in June as a result of a long booking I took in January, and as there are a few exhibitions and things I want to see I decided to extend my trip to four days. I first mentioned this on my blog at the start of this month, and actually put it on the site proper and the tour boards (PN, AW, SEP and so on - I can't find how to do one for Plink although I'm sure there is a way) a couple of weeks ago. I already have enough advance bookings to do me for the whole time I'm there even if a couple fall through; a nice mix of newbies plus regulars who follow my blog and like to see me whenever I'm in town. I even got a helpful hotel recommendation from one which I am very likely to follow up!

I think you have to tailor it to how you work - I don't like last minute bookings and don't take many short appointments - two or three a day is fine for me and I already have one overnight and one dinner date arranged. As far as advertising goes I would try to get it around as much as possible although I would never advertise in the Sport again (and even have their sales number blacklisted in my phone because they proved to be such a f*cking nuisance). It depends what you're after - I have better things to do than answer five hundred phone calls a day from wankers (literally and metaphorically), fantasists and timewasters who have no intention of booking, and I can say without hesistation that this was the only notable feature of my last spell with them. Utter nightmare.

yes i think that is a good idea and a good practice to advertise and fill the time up with booking before actually going there.

I don't know about anybody else, but weekdays for me. Usually when I tour I go as near to the beginning of the month as I can (to coincide with payday) and I usually go around midweek to either Saturday or Sunday.

Hi, I have just done my first "tour", which for me was a mini break with benefits.

I went on Wednesday and checked in at 3pm and left this morning at 11am - so 45hrs in oxford.  Saw 9 people and turned away 5 more  Did loads of sightseeing so did a morning, lunch, dinner and late night slot and just enjoyed myself the rest of the time.  I took a friend with me so we could go out for meals, go to the spa etc.  Obviously my mate lost himself when I was busy, easy to do in a sight seeing capital.

I advertised 10 days earlier.- I had 2 bookings before I went - both of which were no shows - lol.

I am now a fan of touring, but only if I actually want to visit a place and take some one with me.  I can imagine holing up at an airport hotel to be soul destroying, if lucrative.  Depends what you want from it I suppose.  Off to Windsor next month, in time for the horse show - and to get some spending money!

Thanks guys, this has been really helpful.
I shall start looking for a hotel over the weekend so I know roughly what area I will be in to advertise.

Yes, my number is on my AW profile and my website.  I posted my "tour" on the punterlink tour classifieds and also on the AW tour board.  The bookings all rang on the day.

No, I don't ask for deposits up front, can't imagine anyone pays them - do they?  That's why I only booked a hotel where I wanted to go for a mini-break, just in case nothing turned up.  As it was, it was nice and lucrative, and fun.

Pick somewhere that you want to go.

When you ladies tour do you keep your prices the same in every city or do you alter them to fit in with the average price in that city?

I did with my last visit to Manchester, especially in sympathy with the current climate. I got an extra couple of appreciative customers on top of my regulars.
