Totally new, and clueless
« on: 14 July 2014, 05:33:06 pm »
Dear all,

I will spare the details, and just say that I am in a desperate situation, and I am looking into escorting to fix it. I am a good looking man in my early 30s and, although I am straight, I realise I will have to do some gay work to be able to make a living as not many ladies pay for sex and companionship. I am, however well educated, speak several languages, and can hold my own in any social situation.

Any hints or tips would be appreciated. Where to start? I can not have my face on the internet. Would it pay off to build my own website (with blurred face pics), or perhaps contact hotel concierges, or really, any idea how to start?

I appreciate your kindness.

Hi there and welcome to SAAFE.

First port of call should be to get a profile on adultwork and read the main site of this forum where all the dos and donuts are and lots lots more.

The button for the main site is along from the home button.  Read it three or four time minimum and take heid.

Have a look at other guys profiles too for ideas.  You can escort, webcam, direct chat, direct cam, direct instant message for starters.  You don't need to show your face for anything.  I've been on aw for eight years and not shown my face yet.

Good luck.
Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

I'll assume you've read the Straight Male Escorting thread, and since you've accepted that you're going to be doing men and not women (and if you get a single female client, count yourself as head and shoulders above the rest of the pack) I won't merge this in with it just yet, at least.

First, you need to read the main SAAFE site; most of the advice is gender neutral (health, tax, personal safety, outcall screening and so on) and this ought to give you an idea. For things like advertising, there are a few threads here already, but if you type 'gay escort' (or 'gaydar', since it's likely to get a mention in the threads you want) into the Search box on the top right, you should come up with some more tailored (ie. non-female) stuff. You can also try things like 'blurring pictures', as all these sorts of things have been covered here many times before.

Since you're in the UK, you should be fine with just English - it's unlikely that you're going to end up in any 'social situation' with a punter, but you can add it to your ads if you think it helps. I'd maybe hold off on announcing yourself to hotel staff if you're genuinely wanting to be discreet, though :).

Dear Amy and Ladylust,

Thanks for your help and welcome. I haven't read the male escort post you mention, I saw a link to it and it tells me "The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."

I had just come to that conclusion simply by looking around at supposed straight male escort agencies, and seeing how they seem to market for prospective escorts rather than for ladies, that tells me that there isn't a market.

As for hotel concierges: don't clients ask them for escorts? This could be a way to find work, or it could backfire by getting me barred from such hotel bars. Thus my asking for your advice...

Are you in London? Things will be easier if you are.

Find a copy of the local free gay magazine(s) - in London, that means things like Boyz and QX, both of which are available online. Have a look at the club listings to see what sort of themed nights there are - apart from 'suits', how many of those types could you do? Are you fit enough to do 'sports wear' without looking as out of place as a Brazilian defender, for example?

Have a look at their escort section. The last time I looked, QX allowed more explicit ads than Boyz, but amongst the muscle, twink, leather and scally (all gay fetish types) ads should be at least one 'posh straight guy'. Consider making it one more - this can involve body shots of you in a good suit, for example, rather than 'here's my erection'.

When thinking of what to say, it is going to help to have thought about what your boundaries are: what are you prepared to do for the money? It certainly need not involve you being on the receiving end of anal sex, for example, but are you going to be ok giving? If you won't do either, put emphasis on what you will do - let clients suck you off / whatever. Are you ok with clients using drugs while with you?

Depending on just what markets you are going for, some of the other free press can make sense, but again it depends on where you are.

Google can see it, which suggests that you should be able to www.saafe.info/main/index.php?topic=408.0

Yep, scams.

Possibly, but do you have the balls to say 'Hello concierge, I am a male prostitute willing to do men and women, and if anyone asks, I wonder if..'? And then pay them a cut?

If you want to go into a hotel, see what free press etc is available there and consider advertising in it. Again in London, West End Extra has worked for some.

Online, although AW is set up for male clients of female workers, you will get far more interest from men there than on their gay version.

The concierge thing is a myth.It is easy and discreet nowadays for your average bloke to go on the internet and book an escort themselves.Perhaps years ago when things were alot more cloak and dagger and there were tart cards in phone boxes offering French models...Mr Raffles might have tipped a concierge to find him company but these days when in the Holiday Inn etc you would look a plonker asking the night porter to sort you out.
I would suggest you have a good old google and a read of here so you get more of an idea of how escorting works.
