Does anybody know please after having a back tooth removed how long i should give it for recovery and time off work?

I think EG is thinking more about the risks of infection with what will be an open wound.
I would think at least a week and then I would still only do OW and no kissing.
You may be best to give the GUM clinic a call EG and ask them... sorry no pun intended!

You have to be careful of dry socket after tooth extraction. Performing oral, sucking etc can cause it.
A friend of mine worked after an extraction and was in absolute agony for days.

Yes that is what i was thinking as i had a tooth out in a different position few years back and was off ill with that dry socket then got Tonsilitis at same time.

I would allow 7–10 days, depending on how you heal, and even then I wouldn't do any vigorous oral. As said, you need to see how it goes initially re. bleeding, infection and dry socket, and then you need to be careful not to dislodge any scab too early. I've had two upper molars out in the previous few years: one I was back to normal within 3–4 days, the other took 3 weeks and I was in quite a lot of pain for the first 2 weeks.

High strength vitamin c with zinc may help.

I was fine last year after a week.

Just had a my lower back molar removed on Friday.

Would gentle OWO be okay or would you avoid completely (planning on working tomorrow, Tuesday).

Also would Rimming be okay? I do make sure they are exceptionally clean and have Corsodyl.

7 to 10 days before OWO and rimming. I used to be a dental nurse and infected sockets are hell- rimming has many infection risks without adding an open entry point to the bloodstream. You're at a MUCH higher risk of STIs with an open mouth wound also.

Honestly I wouldn't be doing anything unprotected for about 3 weeks post extraction.
