Too much interest!?! Part time
« on: 10 August 2020, 11:51:09 pm »
I know lots of people are finding it quiet currently but I have the opposite problem in that I only
Work evenings and weekends but am finding myself getting too many requests to deal with and getting booked up at least a week in advance (sometimes more) such that my regulars now struggle to get me when they ask.

Is it possible at all to suspend your AW profile without losing your profile then reactivate it when things get quieter again? I’m just struggling with my day job and the bookings and the correspondence with existing and new clients as well as the rest of life!  Fell like I’ve reached max carrying value as such!  Also I need to keep some time for myself and I’m working much more than I ever intended because of course the £££s are tempting but also I have an accommodating nature.

If I can’t suspend my account guess I’ll have to delete it but curious if any other part-timers have had this issue and how they’ve dealt with it? Thanks in advance for any tips x

Maybe you can put a notice up saying you are taking a limited amount of  bookings and assume you are busy if they don't hear back from you.
You can then just pick and choose who to reply to and focus on your regulars if you want.
I wouldn't delete mu profile if I didn't need to.

You can always delete the main body of the text i.e. the long profile wording and rewrite it later.  And just type in BOLD NOT TAKING BOOKINGS FOR A FEW WEEKS or something like that.

Just put your prices to silly amounts for a while, that will put people off of booking. You could also make an automated email response that says you are too busy to take bookings at this time.

This is great that you are busy!!

I had the same issue too for a good while and I put my prices up, and I also just let them book as far ahead as they wanted to, so long as they paid a deposit to secure the booking. Although it is good to prioritise regulars, the way I see it is that those regs made not always be there and you need an opportunity to grow more regs. My older regs figured that if they wanted to see me then they'd book well in advance.

If the issue is that you are being too accommodating (which I was very guilty of too and didnt realise until Ibhad worked 14 days straight), then decided which days you want to work, advertise those days and DO NOT veer from them no matter what. Your clients will learn that they need to see you on the days you choose to work, no matter how much they offer you.

I did find ways to reduce on the admin though which, for me, was the main thing I struggled to manage seemlessly. Automated text & email responses, online diary so they can see when you are available, etc etc. It helped.

I currently only have a few days remaining 1 month in advance, partly because I am spreading out bookings to 1 every 2 days and because people are booking in advance. This doesn't however mean I won't get cancellations so I don't want to stop all enquiries.

I have found initially I was overrun with enquiries which then seemed to tail off as people realised how I was working, would advise perhaps a line about availability on your profile, and when/if you have time explaining this. I'm now down to a sort of wait list, some guys are checking back incase of cancellation, but because I've explained how I work I can quickly say 'thank you for checking' and advise whether I can see them or not. They've already got my details so it's quick and simple.

Most my bookings are available now or on the day types.
Also I'd say only 30% of people contacting me ends up on a genuine booking.

Thanks all - some good tips there.

Good problem to have but have only been doing this a few months and trying to figure out what works best for me.

If you're finding it hard coping with the number of AW emails (and I've always found it had a far higher TW-to-genuine ratio than any other source) then put an autoresponder on that says "I'm available Tues, Thu and Fri evenings 6pm-10pm and weekends 10am to 6pm. I can't always get online for AW, so please text/call the number on my profile to book. If my number's not up, then I'm not working today."

You'll weed out 99% of the email wankers with this method.

Ahh this will calm eventually - the new girl effect is always a bit overwhelming! But good to set your practices now whilst you are at max capacity.

Put your prices up. Supply and demand dictates (among other factors) your price point. Make the most of it and rake it in  ;D

Hi Eva.

If you go to the 'my details' tab on AW and scroll down to 'registration details' you can change your member type to 'seeking services' rather than 'offering services'

This way your profile stays the same but service seekers can't see it. That'll give you a bit of a pause but you can still be in contact with regs by phone if you wish.

Then when you are ready you can just change back to offering services and feel the new girl glow again.

Sorry if this has already been said.
