Either decide to work or not.

Who is the excuse for?

I have been in these situations before and they don't work your best off either waiting for a Job or decorate with your friend . You don't know how long you will be on where it will be so best just to either work or not Hun xxxx

If you drive you could say you've just had a phone call off a friend/family whose car has broken down/they've missed their train miles away so you've got to dash off to pick them up, shouldn't be too long...

how about telling them: "I'm going to be decorating the apartment with my mate so I'm not available tonight". Makes you look more honest and reliable than telling them "yes I'm around", then have them describe you to a client only for you to come with excuses they've probably heard before. Plus you're going to be with your mate feeling anxious about your phone ringing and you having to lie and not going to enjoy the decorating much. Seriously, just be honest.

I was just thinking if she really needs the money with it coming up to Christmas and all that.

The other thing to do is cancel the decorating with the friend and rearrange to do it another night when some money has been earned?

Great, perpetuate the myth.

What happens when she really is 'on'?

Presuming if you have to leave for a job then you've got to get dressed and made up as well? I really can't think of anything that would explain that apart from "booty call". And then your mate might be like "chicks before dicks, girl".

I think either work, or chill with your mate, but not both. If you really need the cash then tell your mate you don't feel up to it. If you don't need the cash then tell the agency you can't work.

I'd say that on nights you've agreed to work for the agency, you need to be able to come and go as you please? i.e. don't plan social things that put you in a potentially awkward situation?

Maybe invent an imaginary boyfriend?  Who calls on you at all hours.

IMHE Agencies still expect you to work with a sponge whilst on your period; I've never came across a sauna or agency that would take that as an excuse.

Tell the truth me thinks, say that this is the only night your mates can help with decorating.
