How legal is it to rent a flat to an escort
« on: 28 May 2024, 05:45:58 pm »
Hiya, I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge regarding the legality of renting a flat to an escort. I understand that renting out to two at the same time couod potential be seen as as brothel keeping but is it legal to rent out to just 1?

From reading up on it a landlord can let premises to one sex worker but not if they know it is going to be used as a brothel. You can not sublet your flat to someone involved in “habitual prostitution”.

So depends on the circumstances.

Yep.

In practice, the police don't care about incall flats used by one person, sublet or not. If it is subletting, the owners may well care, and many flat leases have something in them about not being used for business / immoral purposes.

Once someone else uses it, even if not at the same time, it's a 'brothel'. The police probably still won't care, but you've made it a bit more likely.

In either case, if something happens and your insurance company finds out you haven't told them what's going on, they can use it as an excuse for not paying out.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

If I were you I wouldn’t be letting any landlord or agency know that’s your job because you will find it very hard to have someone who is agreeable with our job and all the places I have rented have in the terms and conditions that the property can not be used for any ‘immoral’ activities and in another section it always says it can not be used for a business but iv worked from 3 different rented places but kept it low key and made sure iv done as much snooping I could to check for any red flags for if work would be out of the question I.e neighbours, how visible your door is to the street or other apartments, ring doorbells facing your drive way etc
