Author Topic: Those working from council or housing association flats, trusting police  (Read 799 times)

Just out of curiosity then if you worked from your flat and it was owned by the local housing authority, or association, then would you tell the police if you got assaulted or robbed in your home from a paying client? What if the police told the council or housing that you worked from your flat, it’s illegal to run any sort of business from a home that isn’t your own and some police can be not very nice to wg’s.

I am only asking because a client and I were talking tonight about a girl that we both knew many years ago and she got assaulted in her Council home and then we got on to the subject of me doing it from a council flat, not my own but still a council Flat, and not when I’m touring, and he asked would I report it if I got assaulted and this is what got me thinking, I told him that I wasn’t sure if I trusted the police, he said “nobody trusts the police”, which is obviously a huge generalisation but I am unsure of trusting them over this, there are many instances that have been reported on here where the police have been great with a wg, but then there are other instances where the opposite is true.

Has the council ever been informed, from the police, about any of you working from home?  If so then what happened?

You can run a business from council home. I know plenty of hairdressers, childminders and catering single parents that do.
Helps when you do your taxes to say you work from home.

I have a dedicated space of tantric massage..
But recently in my area.. (nottingham) the police put out letters asking neighbors to report suspected sex work. Apparently for "outreach support". So its made me VERY wary about working from home as I have a lot of neighbours..
so I only provide outcalls/hotel and its limited my earning A LOT :(

I wouldn't run the risk of doing sex work from a council or HA place. It's not as if they're easy to come by these days, so why risk your home?

You cannot run a sex business from a council or housing association flat if found out you risk being kicked out.

If you had been robbed or raped etc and it is only you working from your home police would be more interested in catching the criminal. Sure there has been cases where women have reported a robbery when they worked in a brothel and police has turned on to them and arrested them for the brothel but your situation is very different it is not against the law it is just a tenancy agreement that you are breaking, police would not usually care about that.

Thank you girls for your answers.

I googled ‘running a business from a council house’ and apparently if you have written to the council to let them know then it’s okay, I’m sure it didn’t apply to sw though!

I have had a few long standing regulars to my place, and it’s not always easy to go away due to the money and my outgoings, sometimes I need to see a client at mines to get money to go away, I am currently now only doing sw and I’m not on benefits or anything, I bloody wish I was sometimes.

I also get to use someone else’s place, association, sometimes but when I start working normally again then I won’t mind forking our a hotel/apartment for a day.  I just grudge it sometimes.

I have not long stopped my normal job but I’m looking for another one so escorting cash can just be for luxuries, I am a much happier hooker when I don’t have to work to pay bills if this makes sense, at least when I have my normal job then my wage is guaranteed and I don’t have to worry at slow times.

When I start working normally again then I will just limit the sw to one day/night a week for pocket money.

I used to work in mine from being 18-20. Neighbours in the block on my side knew, they were two young lads my age and other a middle aged hippy type so luckily didn't get any grasses, never had a problem with it. Don't see how anyone would know provided you kept it very low volume (id see a max of 4/5 clients a day and usually only saw 2/3). Neighbours are luck of the draw really you could end up with a prudish curtain twitcher who might tell the ha, tbh I never gave it a second thought and just worked discretely. It's risky working anywhere really unless you own the property since many private landlords and hotels will kick a wg out too, in fact I bet HA would be more lenient and understanding about it. You could always ask for their permission to run a part time massage therapy business from it and see what they say? I'm in one now but it's my kids home now so wouldn't work here.

What if I ask the ha to do massage from home and they say no and then watch for people coming in and out, or am I being paranoid? My building has no cctv.

I can't see them doing that to be honest, I wonder if you could just ring without giving any details and ask about it. Can't see them checking up on you or anything most are probably busy enough as it is, I've been waiting eight months for a fence to be put back up that blew down in January.

In my experience the police do not contact private landlords, they are only usually interested in a prosecution and preventing further crime / keeping victims safe. I have always worked within the bounds of the law, partly so I can feel confident if and when approaching the police for help.
