Human trafficking and illegals in UK.
« on: 10 November 2007, 03:29:04 pm »
it looks like now the state (politicians) are moving to vanish all the massage/indoor work (indies) adverts off the newspapers.

the reasons behind this would be:

some brothels are using trafficked women.

it's outrageous to run these adverts along with "skip hires and such"

is this another way of yet again blaming everyone working in this industry rather than just those who are gangs controlling prostitutes?

my feeling is "yes they are"

The first one is being sarcastic, isn't it?

I don't see prostitution being made illegal. For one thing, too many MPs know they risk being exposed as having done something they've voted to criminalise :)

Banning ads is what Ireland does, and it doesn't stop them.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

well I had noted the argument (one that you refer as "sarcasm") that it is prostitutes that create demand.  (always it's women's fault as we are guilty always)

Glad to hear about your reassurance that women can choose what we want to do.

Swedish models politicians advocate did make me wonder if the state has the ultimate power to criminalise prostitution just like Sweden or the US.

Number of Cannabis users decreased once it was made illegal.  If prostitution is made illegal, I wouldn't be doing it no way. I prefer to stay on the side of the laws...don't need more trouble than there already is.. ???

anyway we'll see for the next few months but suppose my sentiment/question is this industry is the focus of the state/the media seemingly. a real turbulent time.
