I wouldn't do it, not least as men can get balanitis (the male equivalent), plus it would slow down the healing. If it's bad use a fluconazole capsule AND a clotrimazole pessary, and use clotrimazole cream 2-3 times a day for a few days.

Thank you. I took the oral canniston-duo tablet yesterday and have been using the cream too, but still really itchy and uncomfortable. Is it normal to have it last so long?

It can take several days, sometimes a full week for the tablet to work.

If I feel even the slightest inkling of thrush coming on (which I've not had for a very long time now), I pop one of the pills and put on some of the cream - just not worth it developing.

Yep, I do the same. I find the fluconazole capsules start to relieve symptoms within about 12 hours, the pessaries a bit longer, but if I use both am normally OK within 72 hours - I keep applying the cream for a couple more days though, to help with the healing.

I suffer with thrush quite often and the one thing that works best for me is natural yogart. I apply it as you would cream. As awful as it sounds it really soothes the irritation and itching. I usually try cream and pesserys first but if I have no luck it's a natural yogart jobby  xx

Take some time off work and medication can take several days to work if using both cream and tablet.
I did work once, years ago  and was in agony for days - so sore. I very rarely get it now but would definitely take time off until it is completely clear.
If it is mild,  the tablet on it's own clears it in 48 hours.

The tablet makes me ill for 3 weeks or more so many side effects.  I take acidopholus daily now and pop a tampon in live yoghourt the minute I have an itch or any form of discomfort.  I find it really helps and keeps problems at bay.

Before that I was getting thrush up to twice a year.  It may be just me though but the tablets really don't agree with me.

I definitely wouldn't work. Could you offer oral-only quickies if you're worried about money?

I haven't had thrush since I stopped consuming sugar 3 years ago.

When you have a bad thrush outbreak,  Use a solution of water modarately mixed with pure apple cider vinegar in a vaginal douche every morning and night( rinse yourself out with the solution).  After you done that, dip and soak a tampon in loads of live yogurt and leave it up your vagina for 4-5 hours each day (also you can spread a very Thin layer of the yogurt around vulva to reduce swelling and itching ).  Drink and hydrate yourself with alot lemon infused water and drink lots green tea,  this will akaline your body.  A healthy akaline body will have difficulty producing thrush/candia. Also cut down fizzy and sugar drinks and sweets.  Thrush thrives on sugar and turns the body acidic-producing more thrush.   After 2-3 days if you follow this routine and treatments,   the thrush will be gone without taking phamacuetical drugs.

For maintenance and to stop further thrush in future,  once a week Use the Apple cider vinegar douche treatment nightly before bed,  and yogurt tampon treatment twice a week before bed.  Also you can use balance active 1-2  a week to prevent bv.

Promise you it will work.  I haven't had thrush in years.

THIS! If it keeps recurring its a sign you have a candida overgrowth issue in your body and treating the external symptoms is not enough. You need to look at probiotics and diet change.. Avoid sugar, cheese, mushrooms, yeast, alcohol etc.

Can we please keep some sex work context, folks? There isn't exactly a dearth of general health sites and forums on the internet so we don't need to start another one :).

Hello, I have the worst trush which started around Thursday, I took 150mg fluconazole on thursday afternoon, but today my trush is worse. When I touch my clitoris, I have piercing pain. I'm working next week on monday and thursday, really don't want to cancel these days

Is there anything I could do to try to make it go away faster?
Should I take another vaginal pessary now?

thanks.

I would use a clotrimazole pessary tonight, and then take another fluconazole capsule on Monday (sometimes if it's a bad attack, one dose isn't enough).

If it hasn't improved by Wednesday morning, I would go to a GUM clinic, as it could be trichomoniasis (the symptoms are quite similar except the discharge is thinner with trich).

Yes I would take another Fluconazole tomorrow, but I would also use a caneston soft gel pecessary tonight (as opposed to the ordinary ones.....they seem to work better on me). If necessary take another Fluconazole on Wednesday.  If it still persists get yourself to the GP.
