15-20 yrs ago when I was early 20s I used recreational drugs a lot. Amphetamine and Ecstasy. I suffered from thrush a lot in those years. Cystitis was also an issue on occasion.  I'm not in any way suggesting  that you are using drugs. But when I quit using so did the thrush. I ended up going down the prevention rather than cure route. A tampon smeared with plain live yoghurt about twice/ thrice a week inserted overnight, every week and at least a glass of cranberry juice daily helped loads. Quiting drugs was even better!
Good luck! X

I had thrush a lot when I was drinking heavily, so pretty much the same.

If I ever get the slightest sign I now take a fluconazole capsule, and use some antifungal cream which prevents it developing.

Thank you so much for the helpful advice! I didn't even consider that some things might contribute to thrush...

Once again thanks so much

Ladies something wierd happened.  I seem to have gotten thrush......from using Balance Activ.

Ok so I mentioned in another thread how I'd been told I had BV, got metronidozole but had such a violent reaction after one tablet I had to stop.  So I bought some Balance Activ.  Within 3 days of using it I've got pretty bad thrush! Well thrush type symptoms anyway.

Seems odd, surely if anything the BA would neutralise and not cause anything like this? (I didn't have any thrush type symptoms before using BA).

I would think it's the metronidazole that's caused the thrush - the only time I ever get it is when I have to take antibiotics. Balance Activ isn't an antifungal treatment so won't make any difference and you'll need to treat it separately.

Damn and blast it I took one bloody metro tablet! Must be that then. I have some Multi Gyn I normally use for thrush but I guess I can't use it at the same time as the BA for the BV.  >:(

Thrush and BV are so similar it is sometimes very difficult to know what we've got without a simple swab test.  The treatment for thrush won't work on BV and vice versa. It is best not to assume we have one thing and not the other, just because of the job.

I am diabetic and thrush is the curse of my life and like most ppl if I have to take antibiotics it makes it ten times worse. 😖😖

One tablet is all it takes :(. I hate the stuff as it makes me nauseous, dizzy and faint, but I'm allergic to penicillin so I'm stuck with it although fortunately I'm rarely ill.

Could you try one of the oral capsule thrush tablets maybe?

I was actually diagnosed with BV during my SH check ...it is the first time I've ever taken metronidozole it had the effect of making me totally hyper and made my stomach explode  >:( now the thrush grrrrr. Its strange the nurse I saw for the tests insisted metro wouldn't cause thrush.

I guess I will have to get some tablets to take orally if there's anywhere open selling it tomorrow.

Plus I got absolutely drenched walking from the station  :FF (and crossing London to get here was a mare). Not used to that this summer being a wimpy southerner.

I swear by washing my down there with hot water after every booking. A tiny bit of body wash on the outside and inside and wash thoroughly with hot water.

How's your diet, stress levels and inmune system? Are you eating and resting properly? When ur inmune system is low you are very prone to thrush. I got a huge container of special soap given to me in the Gum clinic in Praed street, and since using it I never got the thrush again. You cannot  use regular soap "down there" because it will change your vaginal ph.

(Brand of the so soap is Dermol 500ml lotion. I've been free of thrush for 2 years since I started using it)
Mornings were made for sleeping, wild sex and bacon.

That precisely would cause me to have thrush, with perhaps a bit of BV thrown in for good measure :(

Got to say that using pads instead of tampons really seemed to break a cycle of thrush I had.

I was lucky as it didnt fall during my working days,  did find it a bit eww,  as I've used tampons forever.

Not had a reoccurance since,  and now use pads instead of tampons whenever I can.
