Actually in my trade its pretty poorly paid all over, management or not.  I wont ever be a millionaire from it lol.  Some jobs are just a labour of love  :)

I know what you mean though emily, nurses, paramedics etc should all be paid tons more.  I use to have teachers in that category too but now i know quite a few teachers and they do alright actually, and they get the hols lol.

I have a couple guesses of why they dont...but Im no expert. For one, a routine doctor's visit involves getting seen by 1 or sometimes 3 different nurses. My last visit called for me being seen by 3 nurses and 1 doctor! The doctor seems to administer the task to the nurses, hence the pay differences.

Also, imagine if they were paid tons...it would be that much more expensive for a doctor's visit without insurance.

We have the NHS over here so everyone is entitled to free medical treatment when they need it.  Its pretty stretched financially which i imagine is the reasoning behind it but it doesnt make it right.  I'd rather see a nurse paid an extra few grand a year than hear about some italian footballer transfering for ?100million or whatever it was i heard on the radio today (I would like to think i have that figure wrong and if i do, dont shoot me but its footie I'm refering to here so unfortunately i dont think i have)

And if you go to enough of their hangout spots, you might end up having one of those footballers transferring a few thousands into your purse  ;)

You're not far wrong. Man. City wants to talk to Kaka about moving from AC Milan to them, for ?100m. Yet remember the strikes nurses and teachers had to go on to get better pay conditions?

Yeah thats the one (disadvantage of no TV is i only catch half news stories haha)

And Joey, I'm not exactly the sterotypical catch for a footballer so i shant be benifiting in anyway from a footballers wage.  And i dont think Exeter or Plymouth FC's are in quite the same league!!! ;D   I worked at a football club a while back, everyone there was a twat to be honest (too much money, not enough brains) but dont tell them i said that because i might get some more work off them soon hahaha.

?108m to be precise.

And no, you don't want to be attracting any famous footballers and end up in the papers for your troubles.

I was just watching The Matthew Wright show where they were discussing this very topic, comparing the unseemly transfer fee to doctors and nurses wages. I couldn't believe the two blokes that called in.

They said that Kaka was worth every penny. One bloke actually said that "whilst a doctor could save one life and make 10 people happy, Kaka could score a goal and make millions of people happy". I couldn't believe he actually made the comparison.
How much you wanna bet it'd be a different story if a loved one of his fell ill and needed hospital care, and had to drive miles to the nearest one because his local one had shut down due to lack of funds. Where would the saviour that is Kaka be then? Unbelievable.

yeah, i heard someone on Radio 2 saying we should embrace kaka and his family because they would be living here and would be spending however much per week on tax and then giving back to the economy by spending his earnings in our country.  I think that he forgot that italy is only a couple of hours away with a private jet where they will probably go back to quite a lot and actually the ?108million is being paid to an italian club, not a british one.  Footie is just a greedy greedy sport really isnt it.  All money and not much else really.  Bloody crazy if you ask me.

well look on the bright side...there's lots of people who hate us for the amount we make in a relatively short amount of time; might as well say, "to each is own".

Nah, I'm with Cassie on this one.  If i thought a footballer had to work as hard as us i might not give a toss but frankly they are grown men paid to play a game they played in the school playground, pose a bit and kick a bag of air around on a field (not their girlfriends heads although there is sometimes close similarities).  Perhaps it was once a beautiful game but its all a little over the top now.

Sorry, have i really started a discussion about british footie.... thats never bloody happened before!  I apologise.

... and then there are the training sessions for the national team on the Cayman Islands or somewhere else exotic, ok, its winter here, but teneriffe is sunny and dry ...
... and do we really not have enough talented british players ... wouldn't transfer fees be better spent fostering our own talent?

Help stop me now!!!!

I'm with you on that one.  I happen to have an incredibly talented young godson (who has promised me a mock tudor mansion if he ever becomes profesional  :D ) but he doesnt seem to think that talent spotters are out there looking like they used to be.  Apparently it helps if you have all the right contacts regardless of talent.  Bless, hes like a proper old man when he gets talking about it.  Not that i would know what he is on about but i nod my head and sympathise anyway (I'm also alowed to be his PA if he gets famous, and he promises to pay me way more than is necessary in keeping with footie tradition.  he's a good lad but hes still only about 14 so i've a bit of a wait on my hands)

I'm stopping now... bloody football gets everywhere.  I'd rather watch a good old rugby scrum any day of the week.
