Well- I have finally been victim of some unauthorised content usage (which btw in the ad puts my weight at 90kg... LAME) EscortVision.com has A) put a profile up on their directory with copy taken straight from my old site's about page- and pictures clearly the same.

Then! I found there is also an ad up on UKClassified.co.uk which I also did not create, which has again mostly the same text, listing me as looking for CASUAL DATES and saying my favorite website is : Escortvision.com/Londonevie

Have emailed UKClassifieds to inform them and am getting in touch with Escortvision right now. Grr!

Update: escortvision ad is now down.

bastards. That scares me. When will the day come where we will have complete control over our photos on the net. A day when we could track every photo we post online through some type of photo tracking system? When dammit when?! Its 2 thousand f*cking 9 already stuff like this has got to stop. God only knows where photos can end up nowadays!

there are tracking systems out there http://www.picscout.com/home/photographers.aspx?parent=9&id=47&type=10

the problem is its not just photos is it, theft happens all the time, it will only stop when i get into power

and start kicking arse

It's not just pics that get stolen. A long-established escort who sometimes posts on PN found out recently that the text off of her site was stolen and used on a new girl's website, almost word for word.
How irritating is it, when you take the time to write your site, put lots of thought in your words to attract the right sort of clientele, only for some lazy arse to steal your script because they can't be bothered to come up with their own words?

same goes for software, it annoys me where you see posts asking where to download the latest photoshop/dreamweaver/song/

a few years ago i created a small script for my own use that I then sold for a whopping ?4.99, I then had it cracked and distributed, and had more than one cheeky <censored> ask me for support for the stolen version

Someone that was posting on Saafe recently got found out for doing that i believe. The person who's text was stolen had words and it was changed within hours. its not just irritating its bloody lazy and shows a complete lack of real personality. If you cant write an interesting profile and advertise yourself the way you want to be advertised then you shouldnt be indie frankly. I'm also pretty sure it shows a real lack of knowledge for how the Indie escort business works because a professional surely would know its too easy to be found out if you pinch text??? Maybe a real newbie would think they could get away with it but it wouldnt take long to work out your gonna get found out.

I can cope with my pics being used elsewhere. I dont like it but I dont show my face or any other features that could be identified so i can live with it if i have to. But steal my text.... feel my fork!!!

I've looked again, and the ad with my Name Picture and some of my script is STILL UP on UKCLASSIFIEDS. I have sent them another email regarding this. the other site removed my details when I asked, so the link on this Ukclassified thing now links back to something that is not there.

I want it gone argh!

Ugh.

I found myself on some crappy faceless US site last week, and have contacted three different sets of people- all who appear to be hosts of some kind according to whois- One said "we don't host the site, we host the people who host it" The second one said "we act as a face for the people who host it" and the apparent people who host the site are based in Slovakia and have ignored me. I am FURIOUS. Absolute fuckers fobbing me off. I am lost as to what to do, threats worked last time I was on sites without permission, but this time, nothing. I hope you sort yours out, if not, want to come to slovakia with me and smack a few people about a bit? xx

Im right on with you Carla. I had a site steal my pics and wording, but I managed to delete the profile. I may need to check back again later. I also signed on to a site that bought in no customers, which was basically a spin-off of one of the main sites. My ad expired long ago and those fuckers wont take my ad off.

I was just reading the porn industry is dealing with similar, having sites like x-tube using copywrited info on the free sites from users who upload them.

Ah. What a marvellous day. Have just found a girl in India using my photos on her personal site. She has also, luckily for me, had the marketing sense to submit said photos to approximately seventeen million indian directories, each of which must be investigated on whois.net and whose website hosts must be contacted individually.

Please excuse me whilst I throw my laptop against the wall, jump up and down on it, and only stop when it is nothing but a dusty pile of smithereens and I have nothing but two bloody stumps left on the ends of my legs.
