staying positive through a dry and tough spell?
« on: 12 December 2012, 02:24:03 am »
It's been rather slow for me for the past week or so.  I suppose it's dented my confidence a wee bit as I've gone from being extremely busy to twiddling my thumbs and looking at the walls whilst worrying about my rising bills and expenses. I'm feeling a bit blue. I've always tried to keep busy at this time of year as I lost my mother a couple of years ago around this time and it helps to keep busy as I do get a little sad anyway  :-\ Any tips on how to remain in good spirits when things are quiet? Or productive things I might do to increase business when alone in a hotel room on tour? many thanks...................

Do you do camming or phonechat?  It can widen your exposure. :)

I know how you feel.  These last 2 weeks have been absolutely dead for me.  Christmas can be a tough time for some (this is going to be the first without my mum in law, so not sure how it's going to pan out), but I've filled my weekends with seeing friends, having a wander around the Christmas markets (and I've not spent a thing, as they're usually full of tat, but they still get me in the Christmas spirit), also theres a few good movies out at the cinema at the moment which I want to see.  Skyfall was first on my list (a fantastic movie) and although money is a bit tight it's still a cheap day/night out, and a great escape from reality for a couple of hours.
Weekdays I've spent writing about what I've been up to on the weekends on my blog and getting hubby to do more pics to add to my sites to generate a bit more traffic.  If you do have a blog, write about where you've been on tour. Elaborate on what you have been up to if you have to, and if you have someone to do pics of you (or you can do them yourself), pop them up on your site to keep the masses interested.  And as Fluffy suggests camming or phone chat can be good earners too. xx

Work at this time of the year has always been thin on the ground but it seems to have started a bit earlier this year.  This is why others have suggested saving through the year, a little at a time from each booking and this takes a bit of the weight off of your shoulders.  That way we have something to fall back on to pay the external bills and perhaps some christmas presents for little ones for those that have them.

For the femmes that have been working a few years through this spell it is no surprise how things are, maybe the speed it has come up on us has surprised a few but that is all.

From now till about March, the best thing we can do is be there to support each other and make sure others realise they are not the only person who is having a lean spell.  Its not as if the rest of the world is thriving and it is only prossies that are doing without.  It is the same the world/country over.  We just have to live with it.  I think that many newbies are shocked at the way work has dwindled so rapidly but due to the fact that there are so many saturating the business daily it is not a surprise to the rest of us.  From September onwards there is always an influx of girls who are just working to earn the money for 'little johnnys' christmas and will fall away again once the hols are over.

Work may pick up and it may not, all we can do is try and market ourselves to the best of our abilities and if it works then good, if it doesnt then try another angle.

Heres to a happy and prosperous new year for us all.
Beauty is nothing to do with having a pretty face.
It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart,
And most importantly a beautiful soul.

Hi kinkygirl

Sorry to hear things have been a bit slow and your tour's not as busy as you'd like..hang on in there.

I tour frequently and it really does suck when my phone goes silent and I'm so painfully aware of the hotel/apartment overheads eating away at my meagre earnings  :(

In these circumstances, I do the following..

-While I tend to ignore other profiles and stick to concentrating on my own, it can be useful to check the rates of girls of a similar calibre to myself and adjusting my rates accordingly. Alternatively, I offer a discount on pre booked appointments.

-Fully read, edit and update my profile. I know is obvious, but check simple things like ensuring your phone number is displayed. I once spent a whole day in complete silence only to realise that evening that my number wasn't showing..doh!!

-Write a positive, upbeat blog. Mention the city you're visiting in the title and pay to have it listed. I think this costs around 1 credit.

-If I have a good, field report (or better still, a field report from when I was last in the area), I pay to have it featured.

-If it's an area I've toured before, I send any gents I've seen previously an email (via AW of course!) to say "hi" and let them know I'm in town.

-Update my AW profile frequently to ensure it receives maximum free exposure by appearing as high as possible in the search listings.

-Search for any local punting forums, join and introduce yourself along with the details of your tour.

-Catch up on any (ideally free) beauty treatments, if that's your thing. Pluck eyebrows, de-fuzz, fake tan etc.

Then hit the mini bar with gusto!! Only joking  ;D  Try to relax with a good book/movie in the knowledge you've done all you can to maximise your chances of business, and ensure you stay fresh and gorgeous ready for any potential last minute bookings.

Good luck!
Spangle x

I keep a diary

And I knew from last year that December would be dead touring wise so I put in big red writing and a reminder on my phone from September to remind me each  month in case I forgot   (  lol) that December is dead do not tour stay at home !!!!!!  It reminded me every day from september at 9am each bloody morning  go somewhere sunny ect holiday

So when I got the opportunity to go to Australia I jumped on it if it was crap well I can do crap in 38 :degrees sunshine and if it was good then its a bonus but anything  would be preferable to working in the uk in the cold

Saving as well is good if you can save ?20 out of every ?100 and you do 2 bookings a day at ?100 in a year you would have ?10'000 pounds give or take a bit  this takes a lot of pressure off you and gives you more choices even ?10 out of every oohing would give you ?5000

Blogging is good I have been blogging about Australia adding pictures moaning about the fact that a travelodge is ?1'100 for a week I kid you not but people see it and laugh and then book

Up dating profile joining forums doing video clips ect

Email  gents that I have seen before offer them a discount on to 2hours if they book in advance ect ect

I think it's time to get my blog back on the roll as well. I've just got a new kitten, and the fans will love to see the pics
