Hi everyone,

According to you, what's a reasonable walking distance from a tube/train station/shops ? In my opinion more than 10 min walks is too much, what do you think ? I'm looking for a flat in Central London and one of my top criteria is obviously the walking distance from a tube station. Some flats I've seen are very well located, around few different stations, do you think a walking distance between 6min and 10min is fine ?

Thanks for your help  :)

Out of curiosity, how are you defining central London? Are you referring to the City, the West End or zone 1 as a whole?

The joy of central London is that at the very least, one is always within touching distance of at least one tube station not much more than a five minute walk away. If the tube is a ten minute walk, that would suggest it is not well-placed (but then I am spoiled where I am as I have four tube stations, two Crossrail stations and a mainline station all within a five minute walk)! That said, ten minutes is not an unreasonable walking distance at all, particularly as some locations in W1 and SW1 are some distance from the tube and are popular with incall hosting service providers.

Other things to consider is if the flat is easy to locate and does it have access to (metered) parking too?

What do you guys think about zone 4 where tube station is 30min away from the house but there's an easy bus connection? And plenty of parking.

I think it is more likely you will be reliant on locals, so in this instance, research your competition. Is it populated with many indies or will you be one of few? Do you offer anything niche that will give clients from further afield a reason to trek from the station/navigate local public transport?

I have unique selling point and after my research I didn't find anyone like that in the area. Also by indies do you mean actual indies or all "independent" girls on AW ?

When I toured Colindale (which is also zone 4) most of my clients (I would say 90%) were traveling by car and only few actually took a tube from central London.
So I'm thinking that it might work for me as the place I'm looking at has loads of free parking.

On the other hand the contract is for 6 months so if it will be really crap I'll do working flat share or just work from hotels more central.

Indies are indies irregardless of where they advertise (to my mind at least). Anyway, my questions have clearly helped you realise that the place should work well for you given you’re niche and that many of your clients drive. And, as you’ve also stated, it’s only a six month contract so if it doesn’t work, you’re not tied in long term.

Hope all goes well  :)

Thank you Miffy!

About adultwork, I meant that loads of girls there aren't really indies so it's hard to tell.

Hi, sorry for the delay and thanks everyone for your answers !

Miffy, I refer Central London as Zone 1 but I'm based in West Central London (W and SW).

The flat I found (it's not 100% yet because still some paperwork to do) is near 3 different stations and all of them are between 6min and 10min walking distance so I think it's quite decent I guess (I feel it's better to be closer to a few different stations with a slight longer walking distance rather than being very close to one station only as it gives punters several journey options depending where they are based).

In terms of parking, I don't really know if there is any nearby but they can always park in the street and most of my clients come by tube or uber anyways so parking isn't an issue.

Miffy you're very lucky as your location is ideal.
