First time working in the UK
« on: 11 August 2024, 05:07:55 am »
Hi everyone! This’ll be a little long- I apologise in advance !

I’m going to be in the U.K. for three months from this Tuesday. I’m originally from Surrey but moved to Australia 6 years ago. I’ve worked off and on as an escort (also do massage) for the last 4 years, so am very used to the Aussie way of doing things but a total novice in the U.K.

I don’t want to work a lot as I’m coming home to
Spend time with a relative who is very unwell and probably won’t make it to the end of the year. But the thought of spending money for a few months while not eating anything is definitely daunting so I’d like to work for 2/3 nights.

Sooo question time-

1. Where would you suggest in/ around London?
2. Is a hotel or a [serviced apartment] better?
3. How busy is the industry generally at the moment ? My main concerns is spending a lot of money on accommodation and then not even profiting. Tbh I’ve had a look at rates on various U.K. escort sites and there’s definitely a lot less money in it than in Australia. I tend to book accommodation here for $120-150 a night. My 30 minute massage only booking is $150 for 30 mins, so I just need to do one booking to break even. But at the very minimum I’d get 4 bookings a day- sometimes all full service  sometimes massage only. But I never fear profiting.
4. How much is sensible to spend on accommodation and would I br guaranteed to make a profit or is it a big risk? For context (if it matters) I’m about 5’5, size 12, C cup, longish blonde hair, green eyes. I only mention this as sadly there’s a racism issue here in Australia and most Asian workers (or really any who aren’t Caucasian) aren’t able to charge as much as the white chicks as most guys won’t pay it 🙄🙄🙄
5. Is there a website to screen client’s phone numbers ?
6. Which websites are best to advertise on?

Sorry for such a long post. Just feel very blind going into it all. I’d be looking at working for 2/3 nights around late August. I know it isn’t much but I am really looking forward to take a big break from this work hahahaha not that I hate it but it gets a bit much sometimes. I’d just be keen to earn a little while I’m home to feel a bit more at ease over spending money while away form aus.

Thank you so so much in advance for any help.

Hi,

Rates are a very personal thing over here. For example I charge between £80 to £200 depending on which services clients choose.

Have a really good look on Adultwork, perhaps in the touring section, to see where other ladies go. This is of course, no guarantee that you will be busy but might help you narrow down some areas.

I can’t advise on areas as I literally work all over the UK and avoid London like the plague. As for client screening you’ll find some information in the thread Spamming in the Lion’s Den.

Also, how you look has absolutely no bearing on how busy (or not) you will be. I am a fat woman in my 50’s and am mostly busy; it’s how you advertise WHAT you have to offer that’s important.

As a guide, I won’t pay more than my basic hourly rate for a hotel or do a non refundable rate in case I get ill or I change my plans. I prefer hotels.

My other piece of advice is not to rent from any apartments on Adultwork if they want the money up front as you will likely turn up to no one being there and never see your money again.

There are lots of threads on here about accommodation, prices, services and warnings so I would recommend spending a few hours on here.

When I started 10 years ago, I found a wealth of information to help me start up.

PS. As to how busy it it, that is, unfortunately a “How long is a piece of string?” question. I have a lot of friends in the industry and we all have busy and quiet days like any other self employed profession.

Good luck!

Accommodation in london is incredibly expensive. If you want more clients charge less.

Hi

Adultwork is main site. Do you have a British passport? As aw can make you jump through extra loops if you have another countries passport. Or make you provide additional information that you are in the UK working.

Another option is an agency - although they take 30 to 50 percent of your money, but then there's no need to faff about with advertising.

If going down the indie route, and working London you need to be on aw, do lots of additional featured advertising and on other sites such as adultseek, vivastreet and local london directories.

Screening wise - sign up to national ugly mugs, use the warnings section on here too check numbers and sign up too client eye to also check numbers.

Buy a pay as you go phone - don't need to register it

Hotels wise - find hotels that are busy, with no keycarded lifts / corridors so clients can walk straight to your room.

Average prices in  London range from £100 - £150 for 30 mins or £150 - £250 an hr. It all depends on what services you do . But alot of girls offer quickies as well for like £70 - 15 min bookings.

London is very competitive and accommodation is expensive. You might be better off working in smaller towns and cities in the home counties. Or even other parts of UK. Don't presume London is the only place you can make decent money.

I'm also British but started working in Australia. I actually find I'm busier here. But I work in brothels (have worked independently in both countries). Brothels in UK are illegal but often tolerated and monitored to some extent by the police but it varies depending on regions. I actually find UK brothels better money than in Australia. Not higher rates but normally higher volume so more money overall. Not everyone would agree with me but that's been my experience. Most women on this site work independently so you will get more input from that side of the industry

Your biggest problem will be getting set up on AW ( Adultwork )
If you have a British passport as long as you follow the registration rules you will be fine

You should be busy as your new here and punters love new ladies

But with that comes the good the bad the ugly and the down right stupid clients who will drive you nuts .

The most expensive cost you will have is hotels and then advertising

The hardest thing will be figuring out how AW works 😂 and how to make it work best for you

I’ve been on it years and found several new things this year that I didn’t even realize existed on the site

Assuming you're staying with your relative I'd be inclined to agree with Lora and maybe look for some parlour/brothel worm if you're not completely against the idea. You'll have a lot on as it is by the sound of things and Adultwork is a pain in the arse on it's own before you even start with other ads (and then having to deal with shite enquiries, sort out and pay for an incall and so on rather than just turning up for your shift and leaving after it). Hotels are horrific here and especially so atm because it's school holidays.

Plus you can always set up some independent ads once you've settled in a bit; maybe promote outcalls so you don't need to fork out for somewhere? :)
