No, they're like disposable diaphragms (not suitable to use as contraception though). Lots of people get on with them very well and don't notice them. Some can feel them, and occasionally they fail. Oh, and apparently they empty themselves when you do a poo.

Don't get them confused with reusable menstrual cups such as the Mooncup, as those sit completely differently and can't be used during penetrative sex.

Mooncups are not OK!!! literally fill up like a cup and then you have to tip everything away! Blaaaaaa, plus they fall out with any pressure

Without wishing to be too graphic, how clean do you feel using a mooncup?

I want to try but i always just feel grotty and vile during a period and wondered if it would be better, worse or jsut the same?

LD, if your cup falls out it usually means you should get the larger size or do some keegles. It could also slip a bit if it hasn't been inserted properly.

I've been using cups for six years and would never go back. It feels cleaner because blood in a cup isn't as gross as a wad of bloody cotton, but then I'm pretty comfortable with my body and what it does. What I really like is how amazingly comfortable it is. Once you get the hang of it you realise that you could always feel tampons, and if you're also one of the women who experience reduced cramps it's just brilliant. I literally forget that I'm bleeding most of the time.

There's a learning curve and not everyone gets on with them, but cups work so well that I encourage everyone who menstruates to try it.

Pelvic floor exercises, helps tighten your fanny.

I don't know. I'm not sure about the blood collecting in the cup thing. Not that I'm squeamish at all. It would just a bit unusual to see.

I think the typo devil took a holiday from me and visited Anika - there's one e too many - it should be Kegel after Dr Arnold Kegel who discovered, devised? the exercise to tighten you pelvicfloor muscles.
This helps prevent and treat uterine prolapses and incontinence and can make pregnancy and childbirth more comfortable. It is said to help orgasms for both partners as you can tighten yourself more around the penis (helpful if he's small) during intercourse and heighten sensations with rhythmic contractions.
Men are also recommended to do them if they have prostate or continence problems.

Ha, Evie - beat you to it! LOL
