SO many timewasters
« on: 30 January 2020, 06:05:20 pm »
This week has got me down, I have had so many timewasters, I have only had three appointments this week (two on same day.  Every other person has been a time waster who has made appointments and not followed through.  I have had three messages today and out of those two were 'See me NOW' types and one was a joker who thinks I will travel miles away on several modes of public transport for a short booking.

 :FF :FF

Has anyone else been having a problem with more timewasters than usual?
I January often like this?
I am so hacked off.

Yes I am blocking 99% at the moment. Its been a terrible month. Had 2 bookings and 1 no show. That is all. And the bad attitude of some guys is a joke, I keep having to hang up.

Totally agree with this even people with good positive feedback are playing games. I dropped my price didn’t seem to make me any more attractive to them. So now I’ve put a two tier price system in a basic rate and pse rate. It’s going to be a wierd year I think. Let’s see how the economy goes. I find myself getting more and more fed up with it and wonder if it’s better to get a side job.

Previously good client of over a dozen visits (good as in reliable and nothing negative to say about him at all) made a booking recently and he was coming from home which is a few minutes drive from me. No show. I waited half an hour then sent a discreet text. He replied saying he would be with me soon. What the hell does that mean, we had a fixed booking!

Another half hour passed and I texted saying please do not ask for any more bookings.  "but you know I am genuine darling, don't be like this"

He still didn't turn up or give a reason why he was not going to.

Beggars belief!  I won't bore you with further messages from him, blocked now.

Taking us for granted is a shit thing to do.

Wasters or not? I send a single word to texters 'ring'. Im seriously wondering if they genuinely don't understand or if that word has a different meaning to them?

If they haven't responded after 10 minutes I block them permenently. Is that too harsh?

wasters or not? Im Beginning to wonder if the word 'ring' is not understood by a lot of texters. Are they wasters or does the word have a different meaning to them? I may sometimes be exravagant and use  'ring me'.
If they haven't responded after 10 minutes I block them permenently. Is that fair?

Same here, I insist on a call with new clients, no call no booking and if they never call when you’ve asked then they clearly weren’t intending on showing up, if they can’t call us then how on earth will they be able to show up to our places and have bookings!

I don’t block but I save their numbers.

From today, I am implementing a stopwatch system for all wishy washy callers that, "Will Call back later to book, I just have to see if anyone else is cheaper/quicker to get here/offers more see what time I am available "
I give them roughly 20 minutes to book, then I am "Switching off my phone for the day"
If they haven't booked, I block them for a week or so.
I find I now immediately de-stress because I am back in control and not being drip-fed their pre booking bollocks.

I have been doing this for a while with regular clients who become weird timewasters suddenly.
A week or two languishing in my sinbin works wonders for some  >:D
(not that I ever tell them this, they just get a taste of their own radio silence back at them)  ;)

Sadly, I had to do this with one of the regulars.
He has been asking me to 'keep my diary open' for him. He cancels so often I no longer trust his word.

I had a couple like this, really spoiled their bookings in the end I had to lose them which happened during a change in working arrangements. With hindsight I should have just stopped accepting their bookings, or at least only accepted with a deposit.

When I first started I thought January was a particular TW month, what I've learned is that TW like business ebb and flow. I do find the same people will make enquiries around the same time of year which could be Christmas, their birthday, anniversary or simply time off. Also renewing or replacing ads on different directories and websites stimulates contact from the same who never to go on to book.

Regards AW feedback I have always found that feedback or not has no bearing on how a person is, just had that reconfirmed today with someone who has very good feedback, some from established providers who is behaving like an overbearing TW fantasist. Whereas another with zero who joined the same day he made contact has arranged a booking, paid a deposit within 2 messages, 1 phone call, everything fabulous. The zero person has explained he had a previous account which AW closed due to length of time between log ins, this could be an excuse and who knows what feedback he previously had BUT he kept everything simple, to the point, phoned without tooing and froing, sent the deposit more or less instantaneously.

So my opinion that feedback has no bearing will continue, to me it's simply a record of those willing to say a person is ok.

I got the mother of all time wasters, this one asking if I could pretend to be his wife for a week and how much would that cost and of COURSE I had to have fancy dresses for all the functions.

Yeah....of course.  I saw Pretty Woman too Mister.....But I bet you ain't Richard Gere.
