I was at a hotel with a client who had not yet checked in.  I waited for him on a chair and then he came back a few mins later saying 'She needs your name'  I was annoyed and on the spot and stupidly gave her a version of my real name, which was stupid because she didn't ask for ID, I could have given any name.
So just be careful with some of these ridiculous booking in jobsworths and be mentally prepared. :FF

If he'd not made it obvious to the world he had a woman caller... he wouldn't have you roped into the drama, what a donut. We have to think ten steps ahead of clueless punters.

This has happened when the client's room wasn't ready on time, he invited me to walk to the desk with him. The hotel had a price differential between the double for 1 guest and a double for 2 guests, put us really on the spot. I do advise always booking for two incase of any such problem.

Another time a horrendous accident on the motorway meant a client was at check in with me, they popped him in as my husband. I knew him fairly well, well enough that it wasn't a problem we laughed about it afterwards. Anyone else in different circumstances I may be iffy about.

I use a fake name when booking and it isn't a problem. The name on the booking doesn't have to match the name on the card.
And even if the clients did ask at reception, I don't think they would be allowed to be given that information.

They wouldn't as it would mean they would be breaking GDPR regulations
