Really really weird for me, I've been dead for the last few weeks  one week I didn't even make my rent (which has never happened), this week I'm virtually fully booked with prebookings (I don't get many prebooks, probably 1-2 a week max), so God knows what's going on!! Central London

Same here, I've just booked a photoshoot hoping it will increase bookings. The weather definitely makes a difference. I think in Central London because everyone is on such a tight schedule any little thing can make a difference x

I've been doing this for many years and for myself I have found a pattern... for context I am south asian and based in the city of London Monday-Thursday and Birmingham on Fridays. I also use to be very active in Heathrow but since covid it hasn't been busy anymore so I have stopped going.

I find the third week of the month is the quietest week for me.... I think because its a week before payday.

When it rains it is also very quiet - clients do not like to come out in the rain but even if they drive they still do not come out lol you would think it's only a bit of water and it isn't going to harm them but I've honestly never been busy on rainy days which sucks as half the year in England rains! let me know if any of you girlies still get work during rainy days.

It is also very quiet during school holidays no matter where I am - so I believe it will be a busy week W/C 25/03/2024 but once school holidays start on Friday it won't pick up til mid April when it ends.

All I can do is try my best to take holidays/rest days during these quiet times. It gives me a lot of anxiety though when it suddenly rains as English weather is so unpredictable.

It really sucks though... it is just so unpredictable now, I have had to get professional photos done which are VERY expensive every 6 months, whereas before covid a few phone selfies would get me loads of work!!!

Met one client today one yesterday. V quiet indeed. Easter Sunday one has prebooked as my son is away for a week at his dad's family in London.

I’m Manchester. Had a busy Monday but very very quiet the last two days. This has been the first time since I started I have had no pre bookings and big gaps inbetween clients.

Same here.
Shocked by how quiet it has been.
Reassessing life choices!
I have a few booking for the future - but that is normal for me to have bookings in advance.

They still might cancel.
I remember when they never used to cancel.

I definitely noticed a dip around this time last year but still was getting an average of 3 bookings a day and before that I was quite literally booked up 1-2 weeks in advance it was hard for people to get a booking with me especially for same day appointments, but now! I’m having days where I get nothing at all, I’m earning less than half of my earnings a week and even to get 2x 1 hour appointments would be a good day for me now whereas before that would be a very rubbish day. I don’t see the industry getting back to its old ways again and the shift is our new norm now. I hope we can all get used to the change, I think it’s the boredom and loneliness now that drives me more insane than anything

I agree Lucia it’s the boredom that drives me mad! I’m currently in a hotel, had a slow day yesterday although it was better than staying home to work but my god was I bored out of my mind. I think the days where we flicked our green light on and the phone didn’t stop ringing, could have been back to back all day are long gone. I do have the odd day like that but it’s very far a few between. Luckily I have a good amount of long term regulars that keep me ticking over.
I am thinking about doing something else part time, 1) for the consistent income 2) to help the boredom!

If it stays like this would a lot of you have to look for alternative income? I’m thinking I’ll give it 6 more weeks and will then have to look for at least a part time job to ensure I can always pay my bills each month. When I first started doing this back in 2006 I would have 8 bookings per day easily if I wanted them

This week has actually been a big week for me, I had a lot of prebookings (i don't usually have many prebooks) and they all turned up.....phone has been dead though, have had a few regulars ring for bookings......Best week I've had in weeks

Yes, busy here too; thankfully my last booking cancelled because I was knackered - I only took it because of the long weekend, but I was relieved.

One good week + one shit week last week makes two OK weeks, I suppose. And four days off now :D

I seem to follow this pattern, too, Amy. Swings and roundabouts. Although I'd say about 80% of my clients are returnees and regs. This is why I worry if I did have to take time out for whatever reason I'd lose my base income and when I started again it would take me aaaaaages to build back up.
