I'm not slow at the moment...catatonic ;D Laughing because I thought it would always be good!  July and early August was so busy. Touring next week and almost fully booked but seems London has had enough of me

My work of late is what I would call "steady" and am more than happy with that. Some days are dead and other days make up for it. Ideally 2 bookings by 1pm Mon to Fri would be my wish but we can't always have what we wish for in this game.

If I make my target (which is not huge) each week/month I know my savings are being plumped up and I made a pact with myself a long time ago not to let them drop (savings! not pants) and so far am doing ok.

I started working in March, working from home. Mondays were always in demand, Fridays less so, Saturdays and Sundays very rarely (which surprised me). Business was great up until May with 1-3 clients a day. When I first burst onto the scene, my phone was going crazy. For the first week I'd wake up to 10 text messages and a bunch of missed calls and the phone would start ringing and never stop. I had a slight dip in calls and texts the week after, and so on and so on as the weeks passed because I was no longer the new girl. And I knew it wasn't negative word of mouth because I'd only made bookings with a small percentage of those enquiring and there were no feedback on the review sites. But still, by the time I stopped in May I was getting 1-3 customers every day of the week so all was good and I was glad not to be answering calls all the time.

In May I had to put on hold until July. I didn't get many enquiries as I hadn't renewed my adverts so I didn't think anything was wrong. But then I started up again in July and all I got was tumbleweeds. I didn't know what was going on but knew it couldn't be me as there were no negative reviews of me and I had a number of regulars so I must be doing something right.

It was the height of summer, the heatwave was in full bloom and so too was the World Cup so I assumed this was the reason for the sudden downturn. And to add to this, there was an influx of service providers in my area. I found this thread and took heart in the knowledge that it wasn't just me and that my hypothesis seemed to be true.

At this point, I started touring and turbo-charged my earning. Then the last week of August picked up a bit but now it's died again. Tuesday evening I had 7 calls (all time wasters) and that was the most in a long time. At the mo, unless I am on tour, I'm getting just 1 or 2 calls a day at the most.

It's now the end of summer and the kids are back at school so I am officially nervous. There is no reason why business isn't picking up (other than the over-saturation of girls in my area in which case it's game over).

Your post makes total sense to me MissVix, my personal experience from all these last years June is always busy, July gets slower, August is better than July (however: slow too) but comes September and it's a bit of a horror show :-( Things start happening again towards the end of the month. Don;t ask me why.

Thanks Ana.

Any idea why it's been dead since July (and possibly earlier as I was out of the business My & June)? Was it the World Cup, the heatwave you think? Whatever the reason it doesn't explain why things were better when I went on tour. Weird.

It's not you miss Vix. The industry dies a slow death July- August-September. Always. That's because kids have no school and people go on holidays, unless you tour in some well known holiday spot you got to be prepared for these slow months. So if you stopped in May (which is traditionally quite a busy month) then post your ad back in July I would be very surprised if you found yourself busy.

The sauna goes through times of quietness but you’ll never go more than 1 shift not making anything.

Oh I believe you. But then don't forget a sauna has a whole bunch of very different ladies and it's a a get there-get served faster type of business than an indie with a specific "niche" who works by appointment only and thorouglly screens her clients. Nothing wrong with either or, just two very different business models. So of course the sauna is going to attract a higher traffic, always.

Thanks Ana. I misread your previous post and thought you said it's ok in August. I suppose this means December and January are dead, too?

I'm assuming touring has been okay through these lean times because I'm a new face and this draws out the punters and whilst the interest is vastly reduced from what it would be in spring, I still generate enough money to beat the catatonic state back at home.

Not at all. Things starts happening towars the end of September, then october, Nov, December and Jan are traditionally very busy months.

Well they are for some people, and other people will find them busy. Yet others will find them steady or somewhere in the middle - whatever anybody says about how February is ALWAYS crap and the third week of November is ALWAYS great or whatever, it's not dictated by the calendar and even if it's true for them, everybody else is different :).

August was my highest earning month so far this year, and had I not had the last week of it off it would probably have been the highest since 2015. May on the other hand was actually OK this year but is normally pretty crap if the last few years' spreadsheets are anything to go by. And without actual figures even that is completely meaningless, because my earnings will be great to some people and shit to others.

Not the first time I have posted this but no one can say one month or time of year is ALWAYS dead for everyone. I have had perfectly good Februaries and busy school holiday weeks. If they want sex with a pro they will find the time.

My books show me the evidence and it goes back several years. I can see at a glance which weeks/months were good and which weren't but there is absolutely no pattern to it at all.

Having days with the phone barely ringing keeps me on my toes and I never take anything for granted.

I've found myself to be working over the weekend, which I never do, and I am dreading it. I have zero pre-booked and I normally start my day with at least a couple booked in. The last time I worked a sat or Sun was over 3 years ago and I gave up when I seen how busy the weekdays were, there was no need for me to work! But circumstances have dictated I need to work this weekend and I am not feeling hopeful :(
