There's definitely something - I'm not noticing much of a difference in the number of actual bookings, just things like the number of enquiries being down but I don't mind that. I think the bit leading up to the school summer holidays is likely to be hit and miss because people are paying for trips away and planning family time, and the heat won't help either.

I tend not to suffer as much living in a holiday resort, but the flip side is all the extra last-minute cancellations from would-be punting visitors whose plans have changed (or been changed for them) at the eleventh hour, and it does get infuriating. A lady I know in Leeds hasn't had a proper booking for a fortnight and is about at the end of her tether - I don't know what to suggest to her either. This is when I count myself lucky for my regulars :).

Everyone is feeling the pinch. Several reasons -
1. time of year -people are on holiday
2 time of year - not wanting to do anything physical with the warm weather we were having
3. recession - punters are cutting out luxes
4. World cup and other goings on
5. ummm .....nope I have run out.

All in all its a bit doom and gloom. Just try and not get too downhearted and look at new ways to market yourself.

Also with the shool holidays here, clients are going away, then when they come back having to pay for childcare while both parents are at work. This time of year is usually very quiet but it has been quieter than normal. I'm struggling as I've only just come back after 6 months off, thank goodness for regulars.

Ok, I had to look up fortnight...but wow, 2 weeks!?

This is exactly why I need my gym membership. To escape from frightningly scariness of being home with no calls. I'd probably go mad to sit up in the house all these days, getting little or no bookings and not be able to get out the house.

Hi Sexykim

Not much to add to this thread asides from a reassurance that its not just you. Things have been really quiet where im working at the moment. Both my agency work and indie is really hit and miss. Some days you are busy and some days you sitting thinking 'Wow im so glad i just shaved my nether regions raw and painted on that fiddly liquid eyeliner for this'
Its does pick up though, you just have to hang on in there. The waiting can be soul destroying and its totally normal to feel like your Andrew Lloyd Webbers slightly less attractive younger sister. It will pass however and when your busy again you will forget all about it (until the next time anyway, thats just the nature of the job i think)

well said Simone...

But in my case, its just the bills wont be so forgiving  :'(  In additon, July has seemed to go around so fast! Or maybe its because I still have unpaid bills and its already the 21st! Usually my bills are out the way by the end of the 1st or 2nd week. Its been a fast, rough month for me (except the 4th of July holiday which was busy).

I also see there's so new guys popping up on the local ads, which have got me a bit nervous  :-\  :P  :-[

Hello guys!

Maybe this is good time to go on tour to another city or country? When you will put your advertation then you will be "new" in the region where people don't know you and then they will call you. At least is better than sitting and waiting, while it can be also more fun to go to other place.
He came in the morning and woke me up with killer instinct. Wish I could stop this now.

I'm in Manchester and it is very quiet. Also lots of idiots making bookings and then either cancelling or not confirming on the day. Very frustrating. I'm always busy when on tour so kind of relying on that at the mo.

Something is definitely different. Calls and enquiries are down, I am still seeing my regs but newbie clients aren't even calling to haggle! I am away to Ireland tomorrow, but I have noticed there as well that the forums are awash with recession speak. On another note, summer is nearly over...lets hope for autumn. Sexy Kim, do not despair. Christmas is upon us!

Hi guys, thanks for all the replies. So good to know its not just me, I did get really paranoid for a bit.
On a positive note today hasn't been too bad work wise and I've just been to the bank to pay my rent, so at least I know I wont get evicted  :).
Lets hope things pick up soon, for all of us.

It's dead, dead, dead.  Never seen anything like it.

But when I do get a job I nearly die from the heat.  No wonder no one wants to punt.  It is so sweaty.

I have absolutely given up on being sexy in this heat, I have settled for breathless. However, every time I go out the door to do a non work activity,,,guess what happens? It fecking rains!

But we don't have air con chick. At best we have a fan and a crone saying  'if you think this is hot you should have been here in '76'...its not even like you only abstain from aircon if you are poor..its more you only have aircon in Sainsburys (jc penneys, sears) 70 to us is skating the edge! Also, consider this. 70 percent of cars on the road have no air con, 35 percent of shops, and at a guess 20 percent of escorts..

Lol, looks like I missed you last week in Maidstone.  You should have rung me up!

No point in getting stressed about anything.  Just taking advantage of the good weather (Joey it is averaging 25-28c this week and humid), and getting  an all over tan and watching the cricket. Have to look on the bright side to everything.

That sounds like perfect weather to me...but of course, its hell down here  :P

But yeah, there's definently a case of the 'cheappies' going around. Bad case.
