I've had a decent week after yesterday and Thursday were good - every time I think Fridays are a waste of time and hardly anybody comes into town I get a really busy Friday and I had to skip a cinema trip in the afternoon.

The O2 mast is still not fixed apparently. I had a text yesterday telling me they'd be in touch in five days or earlier if they sort it, so really helpful. I'm quite glad I have no way of knowing how many texts aren't getting through  >:(

This must be incredibly annoying, signal issues have often been a problem in my location ever since I started (I gave up complaining a few years ago, although if I'm contacted offering me an upgrade I explain I don't want a new phone I want service, that is all). Does your phone have a wifi calling setting, as I understand it this can ferry texts as well as calls. Took me a while to realise this, and to realise it didnt involve annoying apps. I now have it on when at home only problem is wifi doesn't get into every corner of the house ,I do use wifi extenders but there's a limit to both sockets, range and sensibility. It's also no good when outdoors or away from wifi.

If you know this already apologies.

This game is not consistent.  When you're new, it's easy to make money, but once you're not new anymore,  that's when hard work kicks in. You have to be patient. Solihull (for me) has never been particularly busy. I'll use it as a bridging stop on a weekend.

That’s a sweeping statement I’m as busy now as 12 years ago .

Me too. Am not exactly turning them away in droves but meeting my targets regularly and nicely. My small band of regulars are treasured by me and with a fair number (for me) of new clients here and there I'm doing fine.  As long as I can add to my savings every month then I have nothing to complain about.

I didn't say I wasn't busy. I've been doing this job for 20+ years, so I know how to make money. I know when the sun shines,  you make hay and when the rainy days come, it doesn't matter. All I was saying is it's not consistently busy,  all the time. I've owned a brothel and I've had teenagers hit a dry spell. Gosh, running girls will teach you a lot about this job.
Working by yourself in a hotel/flat isn't really reflective of the industry as a whole. EVERYBODY has quiet patches. I've bought brand new cars during recessions. I was giving her encouragement.

I knew what you meant; I've definitely found it true. When you are young/a new face you get a surge of interest and it can feel 'easy' to get bookings, but to keep making a good/great living its about keeping regulars, getting good at advertising, being consistent/reliable and good with money. Just like any other business. I'm good at the first 3, but the last one I'm still learning  :)

I'm glad you understood.  The first man I ever worked for said, "Treat this like a business and you will always make money". I worked in some fancy places, some really crappy places, some mediocre places and I learned from all of them what to do and what not to do to be successful. It's a pity that England frowns upon brothels. It's really fun to work with other people and they can help you when you're discouraged and help you break a dry spell. Money yes, you always need to keep some aside.

Yea I learnt a lot about the highs and lows of work flow from working in parlours and agencies before I started, it's helpful for that! I also learnt that some people are 'misery loves company' types and talk a lot when times are slow, and others are their own perpetual personal PR department and will only want to talk about times when they are busy, so you have to take it all with a pinch of salt  :)
