Hi Girls. I am seeking an Escort Friendly Solicitor in the Aberdeen Area,so if anyone has had reason to use one i would appreciate being advised of whoever it may be.
I live in the South of England so am at a loss on finding one. I have worked in Aberdeen recently but unfortunately i had all my earnings confiscated when going through the Scottish Airport.
I am totally legal ie registered with Inland Revenue and am attempting to recover my money but may need legal advice .

Hi Mariah,
Sadly I do not have a contact to refer you to. However I will say that any solicitor should be able to help you. There is sometimes a myth that we need particular solicitors, accountants etc but in reality any professional should be able to help.
Obviously some may have more expertise than others but none should refuse you or anything. If you very much want someone who knows a lot about sex workers rights then maybe contact Aberdeen Quay services and ask if they could recommend a solicitor.
I hope you get the situation sorted soon chick. Good Luck x

On an internal flight? Who confiscated it? What reason did they give for doing so?

Hi Babe. Thankyou for taking time out to send me your message...Take care. Mariah. x

You are more than welcome. As xw5 says what was there reason? Unless you were carrying over 10k they cannot do anything?! x
-
Eeeek, sorry this happened to you Mariah, hope it gets sorted!

I understood the Police were entitled to question you if you are carrying over ?1000 in cash but Im not sure about the rules regarding Customs. I'd be interested to hear the actual legal facts if anyone is certain though as I have no idea why I think I 'know' that...

No you may be right. Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, where anything over 1k GBP can be seized I think.
Anyhow. Mariah, I hope you get it sorted x

Hi Babe thay is the act it is being withheld for. I now have to proove it was being used for illegal purposes. The amount of cas was in excess of 1k. Thanks for all your replies. Mariah. x

Mariah sorry to hear about that
my uncle carried a large amount of money and had it taken off him by customs at the airport so he refused to fly and he had to get a solictor and get documation to show he had A, drew it out of the bank B sold a house were the lump sum had come from he then got it back and they told him to use bank transfers in the future!
Also years ago i had a unfortunate visit to my house by the boys in blue ( i know not customs ) and they siezed my car phones money jewelry etc to get it back i had to go to court and prove A it was mine B i had paid tax and how much i earned C all my documentation to procur said items etc
I eventually got my car, phone and SOME other items back . i had to show i was earning said figures .........i also got the vice in area where i worked to write me a letter to show the judge saying they knew of me
This wasnt anything to do with brothel charges etc
I dont know if you have a accountant or do your own books but i think a copy of your earnings , copy of adverts , copy of your ni insurance payments etc should do the trick take as much info as you can to the solicitors , as you will have to prove how you earnt it and break it down .
But i dont think ?100o cash is a lot of money in this day and age to carry on a aircraft .......it is scandalous especially as it will cost you time and money trying to get it back /prove it is yours ;-(

No it's not a huge amount, I went on a big group holiday where we had to pay for the villa in cash on arrival (totally non-prossie related) so we had something like ?3k in euros, completely legit. Not really innocent until proven guilty, is it?!?

I'm sorry to read of this dreadful and very wrong crime done against you
by the state.
I read this thread when you wrote it but couldn't find it till just now.
I've been thinking about these issues a lot since.
I hope it's worked out any you got your money back.

just wondering did you have it your carry on luggage or in the hold i travelled from places with loads of cash but never been stopped i alway put it in the hold
also when i used to do ireland and a few other places where you could make high earnings i would take out say 8k on my credit card in two seperate transactions before i went and then take the reciept with me when i toured
that way if i did ever get stopped i could say i was going to buy a car ect ect but didnt and the cc reciept was the proof that i had taken out cash ( it might not have worked but it was a small piece of mind )
if you dont mind paying the transactions fees then western union although a pain is good
or buy traveller checks then cash them back into sterling when you come back home
ive been wondering about those cash passports thing where you can order on line the amount you want to pay on it and then pick it up and just put the cash on it
then withdraw the cash back out a day or so later
