Scared but excited.. .
« on: 04 June 2017, 01:06:15 am »
In 2 months time I go VIP and will see a hanful of elite and International clients. Hopefully travelling alot with my friend (whose already an international companion). Listening to her it's a whole  new market and a very different calibre of clients.

Can't help feeling nervous though.. it's a big scary world out there and being out of my comfort zone and out of the country is very daughnting and expectations are very high....

Sounds like an adventure, Leilalexis!  What countries are you planning on visiting?  It's been quite a while since I've toured internationally, but from what I can tell, things have changed so much just about everywhere.  Places I've visited before are now flooded with listings -- it's hard to get visibility unless you spend a lot on advertising.

If your friend already knows the market, then you're that much further ahead.  My biggest challenge was trying to get people to verify.  It was always easier when working from home but abroad is tougher because you've got lots of expenses to cover and blacklists don't exist everywhere.

Touring constantly can be tiring but very profitable.  Best way to allay your fears is to find out as much as you can to prepare yourself vis=a=vis market research, best hotels to work from, etc.  You could also try to test the market response by placing some ads now ("comiing soon" type of thing).  Once you get your feet on the ground, you'll feel more comfortable especially if you can speak the language.  If you don't now's the time to learn!

Just be aware that you may well likely face more pressure to e.g. bareback.

Erm, you are not paying anyone anything for this, are you?

Leila, if you mean you're starting touring there are a lot of threads here about it already if you do a search for your chosen locations? There are a fair few threads about putting your rates up too :).

Good! I asked because 'lots of international travel seeing a handful of elite clients for loadsamoney' is one of the standard lures of scammers.

Vip in what sense? Are you paying to advertise at the VIP category in a certain website and can you share the website?
why have cotton when you can have silk???

Don't mean to sound cynic or discouraging but watch for the Very Important Pricks, which some of them are and can be harder work to deal with. Money doesn't equal caliber as our societies are not really meritocratic. Some VIPs are spoiled brats that are used to having things their way, and some self-made 'elites' can be just as bad or worse. IMO there can be a different caliber of risks in that field. Reward is always linked to risk, so do the maths.

There are also all sorts of different definitions of VIPs, highly disproportional in numbers to the non VIPs and therefore higher competition, higher pay but perhaps much less frequent work unless you are lucky to kick it off with that one guy who happens to be wealthy, and wonderful, and like you a lot, and pay you for several days and more.

That said I think it can be a wonderful opportunity to travel and experience different things.

Good luck also! It could be an amazing adventure! Would love to do it if didn't have so many commitments. Keep us updated, would love to know how it all works out. Just keep your wits about you and trust your instincts. As i'm sure you know, wealth doesn't make someone necessarily  respectful, well mannered and reliable! I reckon you'll have fun though  ;)
