I Wouldn’t say luck more like hard graft and being careful esp as my own flat i rent is 1500 a month ! But I’ve escorted for 6 years have no kids or partner so my money is my own plus my day Job helps . I make about £5k a month escorting and 2k a month in. Day Job before tax so I can put back a few hundred every month , if I didn’t love holidays , shoes and stopped having Botox etc I’d be able to save more lol .

This thread is exactly what I needed to read. I’ve not been great with saving lately but have spent my money on lots of good memories such as travelling which I think is okay. But now I really need to knuckle down and save.
A good tip that I’m now doing: I set up a completely different bank account with a different bank to my norm, as a saving account. I have no online banking for it and no card. So when I transfer into it, it’s very hard for me to get it back out. I’d have to physically go into the bank with my ID to withdraw, which stops me from dipping into my savings when I don’t need to. I’d have to be really desperate to make the effort to go into the bank haha

That's what works for me, although I do have online banking for it - I pick accounts that are penalise you for taking money out. I go on MSE every year around Christmas and find the highest interest 1 year account to stick it in, then when it matures I take out what I need for my tax bill and shift what's left to the next one.

I do have a pension, an OEIC and no real debts (bar a 0% credit card that I'm running down, but I don't think of managed credit as same as debt) and I'd say if something happened tomorrow where I couldn't work I'd probably be OK for a year or possibly two, although things would be a bit thin by then ;D

I think having a family is the main reason I find saving tricky. As a single mum with no financial support from anyone or anything else, I'm lucky if I have a grand saved. Especially as I don't have much spare time to escort due to no childcare either.
Love them to bits though and wouldn't change it for the world!

I have a grand at the moment but hope to have another in the month.

Yes, you are doing exceptionally well! The amount of money I pay in childcare each week is equal to the amount I am able to save; it really stings. And then there's new clothes and shoes each month because mine sprout like wild brambles. It is very difficult to save, and consistently work if someone gets sick or school holidays etc. Any savings are better than no savings ;)

Thank you! Its taken me nearly 2 months to get that really as I've had 2 birthdays, their friends birthdays, 3 pairs of school outfits and a big council tax bill as well as impending rent.... This job certainly isnt all posh shoes and designer clothes!!

I save about a third of my income, i read lots of financial blogs to keep me motivated. Really focusing on paying my mortgage off asap at the moment.
