I wish I could save more but I have 2 very expensive rents to pay in 2 areas with the highest council tax bands, expensive car and insurance payments, high childcare costs (and all other ridiculous costs that come with children - clothes, tuition fees, the odd day trip etc). After all of that is paid, and the tax money has been deducted, I am lucky if I can save £500 a week. I am a lone parent with restricted working times, so I am just grateful that I can provide a nice house in a beautiful area with a car for my kids. The large savings will come one day! But anybsa ings are better than no savings. And being able to pay bills on time beats scraping to make ends meet as it was 5 years ago. Look at the positives.

I think many people would consider themselves very lucky if they could save £500 a week!

Yes, I suppose it is! In comparison to what gets paid out, it just doesn't feel like very much. I also don't buy anything for myself other than necessities and don't have many treat days for me in order to save that. I'm trying to buy a property to my goal is to save as much as possible! It's going to take a year at 500 a week for a deposit for the area I live in; I guess I am impatient. :FF

I think £500 a week is an amazing amount to be able to save :)
Outgoings are annoying, but I suppose we all have them. I also work restricted times due to childcare - can I PM you to ask you something about that? X

I think a good guideline is 3 x whatever your monthly overheads are inc rent /mortgage and then another 50 percent of whatever that is as extra

Ive saved a fair amount of my money since I started so a long time 😂
It means that now my overheads are very  low  I can take time of when I want to or need to without stressing or even touching my savings
This year though I am going to really stash the cash whenever  possible as I’m slightly uncertain how the UK may go with regards to prostitution laws and regardless of what laws may change I don’t want to get caught with my knickers down as such like our fellow escorts probably did in the USA last year
I have a few fellow escort friends there that have been devestated by the loss of earning literally overnight  :) as some didn’t have any savings or access to credit
So ever since April last year Ive made sure  that I don’t have any outstanding large bills and I’ve beej using my savings just in case it all goes tits up 😂

i only work 2 days a week. . i usually put £100 a week away im happy with that i have a quite expensive lifestyle so id rather save less and live my desired life than pressure myself to put most of my money away. 5 grand a year savings is enough for me xx
Not today satan

I think everyone is different. If you like the finer things in life and feel you can't compromise on giving up fancy things then of course it'll be very hard to save anything.

I work 2-3 days a week and I'm very disciplined when it comes to saving. The way I do it is for example if in my working week I make £1230 then I put the £1000 away then I keep the £230 but not necessarily spend all of it, just necessities. I'd treat myself to getting my lashes done, going for a nice meal or a new lipstick etc... I don't have expensive taste when it comes to clothes and shoes. I'm happy shopping in Primark, H&M and New Look.

This week that extra £230 went on my MOT and servicing my good old banger lol. So that was £125 plus £40 for a wheel change as advised in my MOT. So altogether £165. So I'm left with £65 for the week to play around with. Which is fine for me.

I'm focused on getting enough for a mortgage more than anything. And a couple nice holidays if I'm ahead of my target.

Do you have another job that covers your home bills and work overheads then?  ???

Yes I also work for the NHS, gone from permanent full time for 3 years to now doing part time. There's something called the 'Bank' which allows me to book shifts when I want, giving me lots of flexibility. My civvy job just about covers my rent. I pay for my incall place (renting a room from a fellow escort) in cash once a month which comes out of my savings.

Thanks  :)

I do come across a lot of single parents (mums usually) who are on the Bank. As there's different shifts (eg half shifts: morning, afternoon or twilight. Full day shifts or full night shifts) It's really good as you can tailor it to your lifestyle as well as there's roles within the NHS that don't require any experience  :)
