Different phones for different ads is always good - I used to have a separate phone for AW which was constantly switched off, and when somebody rang it it I had a recorded message with my website address (where my normal number was). It weeded out a lot of the dreck, but that was at a time when I wasn't taking short notice bookings because of other stuff.

I couldn't be arsed with it all in the end, but it worked fine. I just buy refurbed BlackBerries off eBay so I can stick a call blocker app on them (and mine blocks landlines too) and replace them as they wear out :).

After reading all the comments, same day bookings makes sense. I guess I need to figure out faster ways to screen clients.

Well it does in a lot of ways, but don't forget that most people here are in the UK where prostitution is legal. Our screening is by nature quicker and easier because all we basically have to decide is whether we want to see the punter or not :).

Agreed - I HATE speaking on the phone but lately have started putting my number up and I can tell within a few sentences if I want to see the client or not. It also makes me feel a lot better about knowing who is going to walk through the door. My only issue is with taking bookings through the phone compared to AW is that I get more no shows, but I get around this by making them confirm one hour before or I give the booking away.

All my bookings are same day. If anyone rings up for an advance appointment I just hang up on them, my advertising states I have no interest in that waste of time so they are obviously timewasters or idiots if they then ring asking for an appointment in 3 weeks time.

My regulars know not to bother even contacting me unless they want to book on the day and new clients normally want a booking within the hour or less. Sometimes I won't even consider someone who wants a booking later than an hour in advance because I just know by the time I get there in 3 hours time they will have changed their mind or not been serious in the first place.

Same day bookings are my bread and butter, last week out the 18 bookings I did only 3 had booked in advance. I don't mind advance bookings but up until they knock on my door I don't trust them to not cancel or no show me

I offered same day bookings over the weekend only and changed my ads accordingly. I paid for available today on AW but did not display my number.
During the week I did 2 bookings. On Saturday I did 4 bookings. So I made a good weeks takings in one day. Couldn't believe it!
Then Sunday just one pre-booked hour and nothing came through on the day despite using the same approach.
Although it was profitable, I couldn't do that every day. Stuck at home staring at a computer screen all the time. But it's definitely worth it maybe once a week. I'm converted!
