Title: safest way to get a travel deposit?
Post by: caylee_k on 10 July 2014, 01:24:32 am
Hey ladies,

So I have a potential client who I am speaking to about doing a booking but it requires traveling so I have asked for a travel deposit which he has agreed to. Still debating on whether I'm actually going to take the booking, but I am wondering, how do you get a deposit? Do you give the client your bank details or ask them to use Paypal or what's the safest way?

Hiya

Just to pre-empt what you're likely to be advised of - there are lots of threads already and if you type "deposit" into the search box you'll see the previous discussions about this.

In terms of Paypal, I remember from previous discussions that this is not advisable, as not only is your personal info compromised but the money can also be recalled by the client, after the event. This obviously leaves the service provider in a very vulnerable position.

Please never ever give out your bank details, as this would compromise your anonymity and thus your personal security.

I know that some of the popular methods of taking deposit payments are via pre-paid card. This way, you give the client the name of the company and ask them to buy a top-up at a local shop. They then send you the top up number (similar to buying phone credit) and then the number you are sent enables you to add credit to your card.

Other posters have said that they ask clients to send them credits via AW.

Hope you find some useful info, without needing to compromise your personal safety.

Mimi x

I typed in 'deposit' in the search engine but honestly nothing came up, just page and pages of apartments posted in the ad section asking for deposits.

The thing is it's a very large deposit because he wants to book a whole weekend with me and I said I would require half beforehand, so we're talking over a thousand pounds. I really want that in cash, not a credit card.

I thought if someone sends money as a 'gift' via paypal then it can't be retracted? Has this changed?

I never require a deposit before but I know some girls do it through Aw credits, you can transfer directly to your bank.

Not sure to be honest Cora/Caylee! I just know I've read the likes of the below and considered it a risk not worth taking...

If it has changed, that would be good to know!

That said, some members do consider it to be safe - and Cora said, as a 'gift'. Hopefully other more knowledgeable folk will be along soon to help out  :)

Upon searching through some more threads, I see some ladies are recommending 360 money cards?

Did an internet search for these but am still a bit confused, can you English ladies shed some light on this card for me? Can I take the money out and put it in my bank account?

We don't do this 'top up' thing in the US it's been a bit strange for me since I got here! Topping up my phone, electricity in my flat, the gas...

I don't either but for traveling I definitely would and I'm partly doing it to see if he is just wasting my time as I am surprised he wants to book for so long.

If PayPal know you are using them for sex work-related stuff, they can and will close the account, including keeping at least some of the money.

Never ever use PayPal for this sort of thing.

If it's an extended booking and they've never seen you, it is incredibly likely to be a scam of some sort.

When I am more awake, I will find a thread or two on deposits, but just searching in this section should find them...

I don't suggest using PayPal. I know for a fact that when a deposit is done into your Paypal account, your name WILL be revealed to whoever is putting down the deposit.

Lots of banks are signing up to the 'Pay by Mobile phone number' scheme. You register a mobile number with them and the payee deposits the cash using just this number.
If you are not comfortable having the bank know your highly 'googleable' escort phone number, you could perhaps create a new phone number for this purpose alone?
That aside, I havn't had any problem taking deposits via online banking. It's pretty much immediate. I don't ever give out my real name, but I'm guessing the Client sees them on his account, the same as I do his. I have never asked.  :)

Click on the 'Questions and Answers' link in the breadcrumbs above, so you can just see this section, then do a search for 'deposit' - it will only search this section and there are several threads about this issue to be found.

I wouldn't do this as AW don't allow credits to be used to pay for "sexual services" and I think the risk that they'd find an excuse to take the credits off you is too great.

Plus any credits paid into AW will then have 30% deducted when you come to cash them.

So I still haven't decided on the client, but he let it slip he is going to be London for a trip before we meet so I told him that we would have to meet in person then, and we could the deposit out of the way. He said 'well I am very busy and not sure about that' to which I said I could accommodate his schedule and if he was serious he would meet, otherwise I am not comfortable. Haven't heard back yet.

This is the third time he's contacted me, the first time was for a 6 hour appointment but I was traveling, the second was for a two day trip and I turned him down because there was something iffy about it, and now it's for a 3 day weekend. He seems legit on the phone but it just seems like a lot of money to spend on someone you haven't met in person, I mean not everyone looks like their photos.

True.

A client once gave me 500 credits through vouchers (not for a meeting) and my account was banned as they thought i was taking payment for a booking. I had my account reopened but it was scary. Some girls take a deposit by setting a private gallery or a movie to a certain amount of credits. You lost 30% but it's nominal to get your costs covered.

Amazon vouchers may work.
