Hey girls
Is it best to put down what I do or say therapist as I feel escorts get scrutinized a lot by hmrc. Also how do you work it with discretion for clients or do I not have to give any of their details.
I really don't know how to make this easy so any advice would be appreciated ❤️
Everyone approaches this differently but I list sex worker as one of my 3 income sources as can think of no other way to claim for hotels, condoms, advertising, mileage etc and I keep very detailed records of each working day inc actual bookings, cancellations, no shows etc plus how payment per booking was made i.e. cash or bank transfer so HMRC can see the trail should they ever ask to scrutinise my record keeping.
I don't give client details on my accounting records but I list bookings as e.g. "Date / 30 minute incall / X hotel / £X bank transfer" or e.g. "Date /1 hour outcall / postcode / £X cash".
As mentioned the other day in I can't remember which thread, I've always used the annual Tax Relief Diary by Jolyon (published by Lulu) to record all sex work related income and expenditure. This year though I've created my own simple record sheets using the same headings as the Tax Relief diary as couldn't really afford to buy the diary at the start of this tax year.
What HMRC need to see is that you're maintaining accurate business records sensibly with an identifiable trail of relevant spending and income.
