Revolut is asking me my spouse name

Got a payment from a client a week ago and they already smelled something.
I have the app for about a year, made a few smaller payments so far, once paid my rent so decide to use with client and and after very first this comes 👇

Hi there! I am Anjana. Hope you are doing well. Our payment processor has reached out to us, as they need a bit more details regarding you. Please provide the below details : -Could you please provide your spouse's full name(if applicable) Please be advised that this is a routine query and is of the utmost importance that a response is provided promptly. Did you get similar questions/ how do you feel with Revolut so far?

I think a lot of sex workers and workers who offer paid-for content use Revolut. My guess is that they are trying to deter workers from using it for these transactions. Maybe it looks suspicious on your account. I could be completely wrong.

Address? I’m saying this because the revolut email makes no sense, we don’t live under sharia law and women don’t need the spouse (if they have one) to manage a bank account. I believe this is a scam and they’re fishing for info.

This is not an onlyfans account attached to her revolut, this is a normal individual making a transfer, unless the guy wrote “sex services payment “ (which I doubt) she should have no issues. Or maybe the guy sent the money from some dodgy/suspicious account in some tax heaven which made revolut flag the payment. Again: sounds like a phishing email.

It may have nothing to do with sex work, it's more probably this guy's account is flagged for some reason (ties to dodgy business, suspicions of money laundering?) and your transfer got flagged by revolut. I once sent a money transfer to someone with a revolut bank account and my bank blocked the transfer, then called me to let me know this was a flagged account and not to send this persons account any money.

Do you have a spouse?

Sometimes security questions ask things for which the answer is 'no' or 'I do not have one'.

If you do not have a spouse I would say 'no'.

The see what happens.

Also some clients put fairly indiscreet references on payments, thing is certainly with my bank I do not see the reference only the name on the senders account (actually had a difficult discussion with a client about this last week).

Humans are allowed to have friends who are the opposite sex not illegal to recieve funds from friends especially those who are males. I would of answered No I don't but I am dating hoping to be married one day (thats my twisted brain there) Wonder what referece the client put as I get them to put word (Gift). Also why ask you as when you applied for the account you did not sated you are a MRS i'm sure you put MISS when selecting.

I hope coz I recall now I was playing with the app and sign up for some account with interest and found an article about this. 

But so far I haven't answer the question and instead I asked why such info is requested from me. Got answered that there are few of banks involved and one stopped the transfer. So I assume the transfer from the client as since then I haven't made or receive any. Also asked who is processing that kinda data as this is serious thing and got no answer for several hours and have impression they will ghost me from now on.


So lets hope it is my stupid clicking or they creepy creepy

Tell me I have a trust issues but I dont believe and security reason

Hi, ever so slightly off topic, but does involve revolut. I ask for outcall deposits using revolut, and has always been fine. However a client needed to pay the rest via bank transfer when I arrived £180 to be paid. The deposit went through fine but the rest did not go through, even though I could see from his own banking app that he had done all the right things and showed as pending. I went through with appointment thinking it would be paid by the time we finished. But his bank didn’t recognise revolut and flagged it up as fraud. Apparently fraudsters will test taking money with a small amount and then try and take a larger amount which is what they thought was happening. Caused me a bit of stress! He had to call bank and all was fine in the end but please remember this could happen to anyone too :) I now only accept deposits and the rest cash!

I was literally told by my Lloyds bank teller that Revolut is a dodgy bank commonly used by fraudsters, scammers or crime proceeds because it's an online bank that doesn't follow normal bank regulations, apparently it's used a lot by digital money investors as tax systems in all countries have no access or grip on it. Revolut is dodgy and their help desk is useless (this last bit is what I've been told by revolut users as I don't have an account there), hence the reason transactions with this bank get flagged quite often. While many financial institutions have a problem with sex industry I don't think revolut gives a damn. I may be wrong but I doubt the OP's client was so thick as to write "payment for sex services" on his money transfer to her. Personally I'd rather not take any payments from people with a revolut account because of the above reasons, too many issues. Also: taking payments from a dodgy account that is under investigation might get you into trouble or get your own good ol decent bank account frozen (which I find terrifying because these things take time to investigate and for them to figure out you have no ties to the revolut dodgy client) . Call me paranoid but  I don't want to touch revolut with a barge pole.

I only accept the balance by bank transfer on understanding it hits my bank account no later than 2 hours prior to appointment time. I don't want to be fiddling with my app, logging in etc or wasting booked time with the client sorting it out. I stipulate cash on arrival in the text or email I sent to confirm their booking. If they don't want a text I say it verbally and I have this written into my website.

Also even when taking deposits I have gotten used to asking which bank he's sending from, because there are a couple that won't deliver until next working day, or take half a day to process even though the payment shows as exiting the sender's account. I strictly do not go ahead or consider it paid until I see it in my bank account using my online banking.
