Reverse bookings???
« on: 14 October 2008, 01:20:33 am »
I can see that AW offer the reverse bookings thing so here are 2 questions for you girls:

1.  Are there any other sites that do it because i could be blind but cant see it anywhere else?

2.  any tips for winning the bids?

I've had a look and I can only see AW. Maybe Xwork does it, but it sends me nothing!

Winning bids I guess they'd go by price and pitch. If they start at 250 and someone offers 200 with a good spiel it may be more effective than 180 and nada. I'd sell it like anything else!

I haven't won any, but I've seen a few that were really** disturbing and it's kind of put me off. I find a lot of the bids are trying to take advantage of a WG's desperation if she maybe isn't too busy, fortunately the truly offensive and very cheap often don't get many bids!

yeah, i have to admit i have put bids in for a couple but frankly because the rates they offer are never that fantastic in my area i dont really haggle on price.  I just try and be a bit flirty with my emails to them etc.  I nearly won one today but he bloody well had to reschedule so i shant hold my breath for that one to come back.  good of him to let me know though, atleast my flirting got a response even if it wasnt quite the one i wanted. lol

Yeah... I'm looking now.

8 hours for 200?   10 hours for 100? (hehe!!)  and some of them seem a reasonable price and then reading what precisely they want I think 'Ohhhh dear god no!!

You might get the odd chestnut, and maybe it helps to get in there with a good bid/pitch first? x

I quite often use the reverse bookings to pad out a long distance booking if I know I'm going to have some free time before or after. From what I have been told, the clients do look out for an interesting pitch, so do write something flirty/friendly in the box (more than just directing them to your profile, at least), but that might just be my clients! It will almost certainly mean compromising on your rates a bit, but I have got two local regulars out of it (who pay my full rates now!) as well as trips away and three regular London clients who would almost certainly not have seen my profile otherwise.

If you scout them fairly regularly you will begin to recognise the ones not even worth looking at, (barebackers, general oddballs, complete cheapskates) - look out for feedbacks just as you normally would. I can recommend them for making up the numbers if you have a trip planned, a quiet spell or fancy travelling about a bit.  :D

I win quite a few reverse bookings.  I suggest referencing back to their bid specifically, check their reviews on AW to pick up anything that you can personalise your reply with.  Dont sell yourself cheap - i have never under bid - and above all have a good prodcut to sell.  Make sure your profile is of a good standard with professional pics and reviews.

Happy bidding
