Rent or work from hotel/serviced apartment?
« on: 07 September 2014, 06:44:53 pm »
I currently only offer outcalls and would like to attract more clients. I cannot do incalls from my home as my teenage children live with me and am considering whether it would be worth renting another property OR working from a hotel once a week. ( I have a full time day job at the moment).

I could rent a flat for about ?400 a month but there would obviously be bills on top. I know it would be cheaper to work from a hotel, say one day a week. I would need to see 5 clients a month to cover the rent and costs and whilst this doesn't seem like many, at the moment, I'm only averaging 3 a week on a good week.

Any advice would be much appreciated from ladies who are in the same situation or thinking along the same lines.

(I should mention that I also need to get my own website together but am on the case. I currently only advertise on AW).

I would start with a few hotel days to see what the demand is like, and whilst I'm doing them work out exactly what it's going to cost to rent a flat (plus what you need for home too) and from that you know your 'break even' point, can work out how much you actually need to earn and then decide how you're going to earn it :).

Hotels are expensive and restrict the times you can work, but mean you're not having to commit yourself to anything beyond the following lunchtime. Flats are cheaper and you've got more freedom to work when you want, but obviously if you're signing up for six months or more you have to be able to pay and it's far more important to pick the right place (there's a lot on here about choosing incall flats already).

If you try the hotel idea and find you like doing incalls (and you're outside London), I'd start thinking about a flat, but do your maths :).

Personally it it were me I would use a hotel once a week especially if I had a full time job, Flats are a big financial commitment and would only be considered if I were a full time escort or I found someone I could share with.

I agree - I think I'd got it into my head that the OP was going to be there full time (or at least during the day when it's busier, or at least in my experience). In that case I think I'd stick to hotels too, but a share with somebody trusted might be a plan if it was just to do the odd incall in the evenings and maybe one weekend day a week?

Hiya

I am currently working from a serviced apartment in Birmingham but with rocketing prices and weeks that can be difficult to book I am considering renting one for the next six months.

I have been away for a couple of years but did have one before hand yet found that I didn't like the commitment, for instance  if I want some time off for holidays etc at the moment I  can take it. With the responsibility of paying for an apartment (in addition to my home) it adds a bit more pressure.

So what I am trying to do is weigh the two options up and would like a bit of input as to considerations that I should be making.

It's that or I toss a coin haha !

With any rented property with a tenancy agreement there will always be bills that will still be charged whether on holiday. But with serviced apartments no bills just one flat rate. All that need to buy is food shopping. So if it was me deciding it matters on my availability full or part time. But having two sets of bills for two properties is added stress.  If you are making more than enough profit after paying additional then consider if not stick to service apartments. One thing I wouldn't recommend to do with escorting is just to take a chance as some things can be prevented thinking it through.

Hi

I'm escorting with a full time job too and in exactly the same situation, I've decided to do incall days at a hotel occasionally.  Things can be hard enough when the business is slow, and I don't want the commitment of a flat to pay for in addition to my home - even more difficult if you are limited to when you can work due to full time work committments.  I'd also prefer not to be in the same place every incall day.

That's just me, but hope it helps.

I've advertised a hotel incall 2 days plus I've arranged to work from another location on Saturday (far, far away!).

I am hoping it will be lucrative!

It does, I have mulled it over the past week and I definitely don't want the commitment of another property. Not yet anyway. Perhaps further down the line.

Thank you for all of the advice.

I'm glad that you have it all sorted lucielee !  ;D
