Regarding Adult work
« on: 19 December 2010, 04:58:23 pm »
  Hi everyone

I just wanted to ask regarding  adult work,  would you have to send  a copy of your passport and a picture of yourself to get the verified adultwork account status.

Would you really need to go threw all this just to advertise on AW for one I am not really sure how I feel about sending them  personal details.  I am still in the process of trying to understand how it works I find AW confusing but I was told I will get it after a while. Also I was told that not all the ladies have gone threw sending AW personal details
to advertise.

You do not have to do full verification to advertise on AW.  I do not and no one I know does.

For AW tips, try putting Adultwork in the search bar. I find it invaluable.

I felt the same way as I feel my passport/license is personal and should be kept private. They never used to require the Id part, they recently added it to the site.

It's fine to advertise without being verified, I advertised successfully for along time without being verified.

It's just a feature they added that gives members more trust that your profile is genuine.

I think you can still get verified status by just uploading the verification photo (you can obscure your eyes & hide it from public), you could give that a try or just leave it, soon you will be more comfortable with the site xx

Hello Melissa & Brook
I  also run a site for advertising escorts.
Due to the shady nature of this industry
I may have involvement in the criminal underworld.
{I didn't mention ID theft did I?}

Please send me a copy of your passport, mothers maiden name, Pets name, first car you bought, and your bank account details...Your PIN number would also help.

My other business is in media news gathering.
Your details may be passed onto that group.
Should anything news-worthy about you EVER OCCUR for the rest of your life
we have some interesting stuff to put in our articles.

My partner works in a lobby group to parliament, trying to get escorting outlawed.
Your details will be passed on
so that if the law changes
and your are suspected of escorting,
the details you provided earlier,
will be used by the prosecution to show a history of intent.

Oh I also pass on your details to ANYONE AT ALL who wants them.
Be they anti escort groups, rapists or third world located company's who sell Viagra & penis enlargement potions....

Ps. I gather these details
---am I registered/comply fully with the data protection act?

I hate all the stuff that adultwork makes girls do in the name of 'verification.'  It gets my knickers in a twist.

No other site asks you to do so much.  They do not have any reason to see your passport/drivers licence, other than  poking their nose in.

Surely punters can do their own legwork and verify the girls on there themselves?

I have not been verified, I refuse point blank to send them anything by which I could be identified, that includes uploading a face picture (even with the eyes blacked out).  It's bad enough that I had to tell them my name and address so that they could send me my cheque(s).

Like Jodie said what exactly are they going to do with the information?  Can they be trusted?  What if someone sends the info they hold to a national newspaper?  Can you imagine what the News of the World would do with it?

When anyone asks for personal info always ask 'whats the worst that can happen?'  If you can live with the consequences then go for it.

I am verified tbh ive got no problem with it.

After doing phones and cams all those sites need your passport for age verification which is madnatory and fair enough so i see no difference  with AW.

The lady the NOTW outed the other week after her dopey granddaughter decided to go on the X Factor probably thought that too. The trouble is, you can never bank on what the people around you are going to do to draw attention to you. That said, I doubt whether AW would be in cahoots with the gutter press - they'd be a far bigger story themselves.

I don't want anybody other than me having access to that much of my personal data; the stuff they are asking for is plenty to gather enough additional information to set up a bank or credit card account in my name, or knock a false passport together. The site's security has been shown time and time again to be lax, and I would no more send them a scan of my passport with details of my legal name and address than I would send them my housekeys in a Jiffy bag with a map of my street.

Hiya

I verified my status by attaching a j-peg image of my passport and also a verification photo (me fully clothed holding a paper with my AW name, AW and date).

I was quite dubious about doing this at first, but to be honest, I've seen too many people's profile's removed because spiteful people (mainly other competing escorts) claiming that the photos are not of the escort in question, etc.

This way when I add my photos AW can see I am who I say I am.
Also (just my opinion here), I think it reassures many clients that you're genuine if you have a verified status.
Although undoubtedly there are many AW'ers doing just as well without being verified.

Being verified means I have access to client connections, I've sent quite a few flirts/proposals and have had most of my bookings through using it as the feedback received is that without me sending the flirt the client didn't know I was there!! Even though I feature myself on a regular basis  ::)

I got myself 'verified' last summer and I sent a photo of my driving licence along with one of  myself holding  a piece of paper with the date on it. To be honest the photo on my licence isn't very identifiable. Nothing horrid has happened yet.

I will sat this though - not one client has said they noticed this, nor  that they booked me because I'm 'verified'. There also is no way to search for this 'verification' - only for those who display their verification photo, so I'm still way behind those who have only taken the photo with their name and date under it. ::) whereas they've had that plus ID from me.

Never mind.
