Hey, I've just started out as an escort and was just wondering how much i should be charging? If you could give me some info and tips on rates that would be great. Thanks

The first tip is to see what other people are charging in your area, both in terms of what part of the country you are in and what sort of service you are considering providing.

If you choose to work for someone else, either an agency or a brothel/parlour, they will often set a price (or range of prices) for you.

However you choose to work, you need to decide whether the level of work you get as a result is what you want: having lower prices may (or may not) mean you get more clients, but would you prefer to have the same income from seeing fewer clients? How much money do you want / need? What expenses will you have?

'Don't undercharge' would be my second tip. Competing on price is risky, emotionally as well as financially - there's always someone cheaper.
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."

I was recently told by a good regular that when he visited Scotland on business a masseuse charged him ?120 for same Tantric massage as I give for ?80....said she was very busy and he had to wait 3 days for appt. No sex just naturist massage with relief at the end.

I could only agree with what has been posted already... do a bit research shop around check what others are charging etc. As an Independant...well I please myself really. I certainly dont undercharge, just dont want the hassle. Valueing myself is important and it does reduce some timewasters. What market are you looking for? When I informed others I was a newbie I had lots of lessons around timewasters...chancers... sex chat etc. You learn and sense them and become a bit skilled. Saafe is really useful regarding advice and doing your checks so I followed the advice as I only offer outcalls. So really keep that in mind and if in doubt click on saafe and follow the advice.

Ive only been escorting 1 year , like the other girls have mentioned , i was plauged by timewasters , crank callers ect for a good few months !! I decided on my pricing ny looking at what rates other indis in the area asked for. I must be doing something right as ive built up a nice client base now. i charge ?100 for an hour in or outcall , no hidden extras . I live in a small town , if i was in Leeds or another city i would ask for more. The ladies from my town on adultwork ( they were only 3 of us last year!) , all charge roughly the same. Until now that is , theres now a new girl undercutting us all advertising " bareback and you can do whatever you want to me , ?50 , all night ?200." She seems to be getting a lot of business from her rating and feedback on there. I think it gos without saying that this is not the way to advertise your services!! As the other girls say , dont undercut , its better to do less clients for the same money!! It also makes you look cheap ( clients words not mine - on above mentioned ?50 girl in our area)!!!
good luck woth your escorting , i would suggest checking out the adultwork site ( click on my website link) , as you can enter your post code in the escort search , you will then be able to see what rates are the average for your area!!

Barebackers will never be a threat to business for safe ladies, they will get business but a lot of guys will avoid her like the plague and much prefer to pay extra knowing they are in the hands of a clean and safe lady.

My business has slowed down aswell :(, a friend of mine said hers has too.

Definitely don't do bareback, it really is far too risky. Good luck with it!

Lets hope business picks up for us!

That's a point. From what I hear, business is slow generally at the moment, it might not be because of the barebacker.

When I see the 'bareback and you can do whatever you want to me, ?not much' ads, I do wonder.

With male escorts, I know most offering unprotected anal will be HIV+ and between two HIV+ men, bareback is not uncommon. It's controversial, but - given various things - doesn't look to be too unreasonable a thing to do.

But is it just sexism to wonder if women who offer it are hopelessly naive, forced, desperate, HIV+, not thinking, depressed, very optimistic or what? It seems an awfully big risk to take for a small financial reward, so there has to be something else as well.

To get back onto the question about rates when i started I was asking for ?90 an hour as I thought this was the average price in the area, but it turned out to be the average price for the "bb slag types" so after a week or two I put it up to ?120, I still get the same amount of bookings and it is still considered a good price and is inline with prices of similar escorts in my area.

I have often wondered this too. I have come to the conclusion that a lot are still hopelessly naive, plus a lot of the girls on AW who offer this service I have noticed are very often submissive, and seem to relay their "being used" fantasies and sex lives into the sex for money arena, which seems to be the ultimate way of being used if your head is in that sort of space.  Quite often too it is people on Adultwork who are in it for a quick buck who know nothing about the sex industry and are totally unaware of sites like this as well as other large forums ie Punterlink and Punternet.
If they found these sites and joined the communities it could be a valuble source of information for them and may just stop them in their tracks from continuing bareback.
I also think there is the element of "it will never happen to me."

Does Adultwork have a link to Saafe on its site?

Not as far as I know. The big ones like Puntingzone and Punternet kindly took it upon themselves to put a banner on the relevant pages on their site. And I've had a few sites and directories email and asked if they could use our banner as they thought this site very useful, for no mention in return. But I don't think Adultwork has a banner. At least, they've never written asking for one.
