Punterlink
« on: 13 February 2010, 03:23:11 am »
I'm quite new here so hope I am posting this in the right forum. Well here goes, some time ago, on the advice of another WG I know I tried to register with Punterlink.  I spent ages filling in the profile details, selecting honest and representative photographs etc.

I received an email back with the curt message "Sorry but we don't list TS escorts". Now I can imagine they like to maintain standards so like to avoid listing the 'Burly truck driver, father of four, call me Susan" type of transvestites but I am a full time escort and very popular with the type of client who goes for TS's so can't understand why a resorce like Punterlink would refuse to list me. On the other hand both the born girl who recomended them to me and myself went through their terms and conditions we couldn't find anything saying TS's were barred.

My question is do the people here think I was treated fairly and is the managment of Punterlink transphobic in some way?

Alas, the main punter* sites are appallingly transphobic and there is nothing you could have done that would have made any difference.

Personally, I think it says a lot about their issues.

I have a friend who is a TV and I'll ask him/her where to advertise.  Off the top of my head, Blonde Escorts allows TV/TS ads and you don't even have to be blonde!  OAD may also take them, as will Adultzone and The Oldest Profession.  If you're ever in Scotland, albaladies may allow you to advertise, but it's a good idea to ask.

I agree, but I think Punterlink ought to be more upfront about it - I have just looked through all the rules for submitting an escort ad myself and I couldn't find anything either. Very unfair.

Do they say 'no male escorts' explicitly? Either way, I think there is an element of thinking that any other man would think the same as them.

If you want a laugh at such men, see http://www.tuckermax.com/archives/print/the_most_distur.phtml (you can skip to the 'WARNING TO ALL GUYS' bit...)

Strike me down and call me a feminazi, but I do believe Tucker Max should be spayed.

Hahaha I actually found that to be hilarious reading. I LOVE freaking out straight guys and it's funny imagining what is going on in their heads...

With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I found it hilarious too, but I am laughing at him, not with him... and there are men who do the latter.

Yeah, I'd only find it hilarious if there were absolutely no ignorant, homophobic, misogynistic or generally wanky people out there in the world. As far as the worlds population seems to stand now, I find that Tucker Max makes me want to cry into my feminazi cornflakes. ::)

Is the fact that the 'film of the book' flopped very badly any consolation? The UK release looks to have been postponed as a result too.

Hi all, I have deliberately waited a little while to post again on this thread as I wanted to hear what people had to say before I did.

Firstly I'd like to say thank you all sincerely for your supportive words. I wish I'd found this site ages ago and consider it as one of my most important resources as an escort. I have found the folks on here more accepting and responsive than some of the TG sites I'm on.

Thanks for the list of potential sites to advertise on Hermione, I'll be looking into them with a view to putting up profiles. Thanks.

As for the Punter sites, what they don't seem to realise is that the clients I see in 95% of cases also see born girls as well. A favourite opening line of most of the enquires I get is "I'm straight but I've been wondering what it would be like to see a TS girl". Now I feel like I have 3 options.

1) Put up and shut up.
2) Badmouth all the Punter site to each and every client I see. A small but very personal bit of revenge!
3) Mess with them by putting up a profile that cleverly gets around mentioning that I'm TS. I've quite often had idiots who can't or can't be bothered to read my profile not realising that I'm TS.

Looks like it'll be option 1 as if I badmouth the site I would be doing a disservice to all the hard working girls who use the site.  3 isn't really an option as, unlike PLink I like to be upfront in who and what I am.

I am proud of who and what I am as well as what I do. I think I offer a good service to people who want to experience being intimate with a TS woman and judging by the success I have achieved as an escort I must be doing something right it just really gets to me when I get a rejection like that out of the blue. Funny though, I can't really say why I should be so bothered.

As for Tucker Max, he just seems like the drunken, ignorant and vacuous client from hell. Just the type of guy who rings you at 3am and says something like "So you're a shemale, yeh? Does that mean you've got..... " I leave your imaginations to fill in the rest of this conversation!
I imagine tthe only way he can get someone to go to bed with him is to pay lol.

Mmmh badmouthing the site to clients seems a waste of your energy and could be counterproductive as some people wrongly assume you are too much trouble and shy away from booking you.  What I am trying to say is that many clients really don?t want to get embroiled in any on/off board issues and it would detract from your qualities.  Or you get a group of people that thrive on stirring behind the scene.  For all it is worth right now Punterlink is struggling with a forum dead in the water plagued by spammers.  So I am not sure how much of a loss it would really be that you cannot advertise there.

Maybe an option would be to actually turn the situation around into something positive ? i.e. explore the possibility of setting up a directory that positively embraces TS escorts yourself.  So instead of either resigning yourself to being discriminated against by many directories, or using some subterfuge which might actually cause yourself problems with guys feeling that you mislead them with a profile on there or wasting your time with raging against the injustice why not stick two cyber fingers up to them and perhaps try and create a space where you can make a difference?   I have no idea if there are any boards/directories already or what the demand is like but I am sure many gents have a secret or not so secret passion for TS escorts.  Perhaps you could also have a more gay or TV friendly environment too as again there appears to be more limited advertising resources.  Years ago it seems if you believed agencies and many directories there was no demand for BBW escorts ? some adventurous ladies founded Pretty Big Escorts with resounding success as there are many guys who adore bigger ladies.  I get a lot of my work through that site.  Just a thought and maybe there are already too many places and the market is too saturated.  But the fact that you are seeking places to advertise makes me think there is some untapped potential.

I have a friend who is crossdresser...she hasn't even had the operation, and he tells me men approach her all the time and dont care that she's a TS. It blows my mind. Straight men just like sucking cock and getting fucked in the bum by women. Thats just the way it is  :D

I'd look into filing a lawsuit against Punterlink (Kidding!, Im in this whole lawsuit mood right now since my car accident).

I cant see whats the big deal. But in my experience, the 'punter' named sites seem to be very homophobic. Its the mother F*cking internet. You see a photo, and move on if you dont like it.

Have you tried Eros Guide?

Hi Honey, no I wasn't thinking of whispering into clients ears "Punter site are s***" over and over I'm much more subtle than that. "I am the weaver" (said while delicately intertwining fingers in a Svengaliesque sort of way) lol. I have to admit that while not happy about any sort of trans or homophobia I'm not loosing sleep over it. It does make me a bit angry when I talk to other girls and they appear to be getting quite a bit of work from the sites. I have to qualify this by saying that if the 'punters' posting on their boards are anything to go by they're not the sort of clients I want. I'm most definitely not short of work. Obviously I have no experience of the 'punter' sites but if they're anything like AW as I said before they're not the sort of clients I want.

There are a lot of dedicated TV/TS directories and I think I have them pretty well covered. If I wasn't a complete idiot where technology is concerned I would consider setting up my own. You'd never think I used to be a professional sound engineer and now I struggle with my mobile  ;D I don't want to come over as a whinger as I'm very happy and enjoy what I am and what I do, it's just my hackles tend to go up when I smell a discriminatory rat. In the past I have faced a lot of discrimination as you can imagine due to me sexuality and gender but surprisingly little now. As Joey points out 99.9% of my clients would swear they're straight even in a lie detector test and quite a few of them see born girls who escort or are married . Tammy while checking things were ok overheard a guy say to me "I couldn't do that with a bloke!"  ??? . She nearly fell down the stairs trying to hold back the giggles  ;D By April this year I will be legally female anyway!

Even though I'm not a particularly litigious person the suggestion of filing  a law suit does appeal (I've never sued anyone before  ;) ) but in the UK although the LGBT community is protected in the workplace our gutless government chickened out when it came to protecting transsexuals from discrimination regarding the provision of goods and services.  It's only a matter of time though, rubs hands together in anticipation of all manner class actions  ;)

I'll come clean, I broke two nails this week so have been in a dead stropy mood. As I said earlier I don't let stuff like this get me down.

Congratulations re: April! :D And I have nothing of use to add, except that I love your attitude. I could learn a bit from it as 'punter-centric' spots on the Internet often make me feel a bit ill and I've never even faced discrimination directed personally at me so I shouldn't be so whiny about it.

You're quite right, though - by keeping up with the relevant TV/TS directories and letting homophobic creases of the net implode with their own hatred, or 'voting with your feet' or whatever the term is, you're doing the best thing. Mainly, avoiding witnessing shocking ignorance in order to keep blood pressure down and nails in good condition. ;) And letting the crap places fall by the wayside. On the Internet, if nobody's paying attention to something, it will literally disappear. Thank god!

I think being self-employed means it's easy to feel almost 'over-motivated' to improve things, work harder and do more stuff because you certainly don't want to be doing the opposite. Which can maybe mean that you don't sit back often enough to just feel proud of what you've already achieved and look at how things are actually going well - which it looks like they are for you! Think of that as being a kick in the face to the sites with ignorant and stupid policies. ;D
