Plastic or glass?
« on: 29 July 2009, 10:36:29 am »
I was considering possibly not using glasses for drinks when I am entertaining clients as a safety procaution. Problem is that its a bit tacky to serve wine or champers in plastic. Have any of you thought about this? Shatter proof glass is a possibility but then it just breaks and doesnt go everywhere and is pointless for what I am trying to prevent.

What about those lovely ones you use in a picnic or out on the patio? You can get some lovely stuff from either Marks or BHS.

What is that? Being hit with it? I'd have thought the bottle was more of a risk of being used as a weapon, unless they've started selling sparkling wine in boxes now. ('Look out, he's got a broken milk carton!')

I don't leave glass bottles in the room as a matter of caution. I have seen people injured through being hit by a glass and its something I would like to avoid. I know the chances of that are slim but it may be something to consider

Its a tough one, I was going to say that plastic will give a real tacky feel to things, but then i guess for this to even be a some thing you have to think about means that you should go with the plastic.

I really dislike drinking from plastic 'glasses'* but absolutely. This is like any other boundary: just because not everyone shares it doesn't mean it isn't right for you.

* and eating off silver rather than stainless steel, so it's not just snobbery :)
