Back to the subject of the gentleman with no feedback. I have replied to his initial mail directing him to my profile which has the relevent details for costs and making a booking. I will see if he makes a booking. His mail did seem very polite, short and to the point and not a hint of text speak.
I get most of my clients from Adultwork, despite it being a bit of a, er, murky swamp of a site, but it definitely requires a solid Booking Procedure (one you've made up, which may or may not include AW's booking requests) and a patient, steady head. Make sure to tell them that you'll need a confirmation call (at least 1 hour-ish?) before the appointment - this is so you don't bother getting ready for a guy who was never even planning to call, let alone show up! - and I also require a call once they're nearby for the precise directions to my incall location. I don't think it's advisable to give out your address to everyone who emails you on AW, obviously. I tend to treat all initial-contacters the same: I kinda assume they're timewasters or that the appointment won't work out, though I'm happy to pencil them in and be perfectly polite and obliging basically until I've had a phone-conversation with them and they've followed all my calling instructions and proven themselves somewhat reliable and serious about their appointment. At the end of the day, you can still get that last-minute text, "Oh noes my wife is home I mean I'm stuck at the office er soz" or whatever, even if he
was planning to be totally genuine but just got frightened at the last minute or whatever.
So yeah, always be nice and polite, of course, but I usually assume he's a timewaster until he actually calls from the nearby location and I can hear the station-announcer voice in the background! This technique may sound a bit jaded and whatnot but I don't care, it's saved me ages of entertaining endless email-chats and text-chats of incessant questions about the "booking" the guy is "totally going to make", and means that I usually know enough in advance that someone's going to cancel or no-show that I can swap in a real booking from a regular or just ditch silly work and go out with my friends, which is a lot less stressful!
