Hello,

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your relationship and handbag advice ;D

I've finally set up a free moonfruit website, and I'd really appreciate some feedback.

Amy I hope you don't mind, but I really liked it that you offered a HM Forces discount, so I decided to too, esp as so many of my friends are out there fighting for us.

the website is www.marilynescort.moonfruit.com

I'd really appreciate some feedback, negative, constructive, whatever, as you all have much more experience than me at being Indie.

I'd also like to take the oppertunity to recommend www.seekingarrangement.com for a sugar daddy type arrangement, have met some great clients from there.

Hugs

xxxxxx

Thanks girlies,

yup, did it all by myself in just about an hour, once I'd got the hang of moonfruit it was fine.

I guess for a free template you can't expect much, but I was able to customise most of it.

Really appreciate the feedback.

Also do you think I should list a contact number there or not?

well, if you prefer to be first contacted by email, then don't. but I am not sure how good it is for the business...

well, if you prefer to be first contacted by email, then don't. but I am not sure how good it is for the business...

There are certainly some men who have made a little decision in their heads that, "If there isn't a phone number, I won't bother contacting her at all." (See: A random grumpy Pnet thread.) But that's based on Adultwork.com profile experiences and I'm pretty sure it's as much a minefield on AW for real clients as it is for real professional escorts, so it's perhaps understandable that they'll make extra rules for themselves to cut down on disappointments.

I would say that it is worth having a phone number publicly available on a website/profile if you want any same-day bookings, but if you definitely don't then it's probably fine to ask them to email you to request your phone number.

Be warned, this probably won't cut down on timewasters by any decent amount; I think it was Amy who said very recently in another thread that TWs only want to make an appointment with you so that they can stand you up, so they'll rummage through whatever procedures and safeguards you set up! So at the end of the day, you'll probably deter 1-2% of real clients from contacting you and perhaps 1-2% of timewasters. Not much difference in it so unless you really don't want to answer the phone to people who haven't emailed first, probably best to get yourself that cheap PAYG simcard. :)

Amy I hope you don't mind, but I really liked it that you offered a HM Forces discount, so I decided to too, esp as so many of my friends are out there fighting for us.

Oh, of course I don't mind! That's why I do it too, and even punters who are not in the Forces seem to like the idea.

I'd really appreciate some feedback, negative, constructive, whatever, as you all have much more experience than me at being Indie.

I think the site looks great, and it really goes to show what can be done with these free site builders if you have an aptitude for it (not like me  ;)) If you want someone to get really nitpicky:

The 'Hi, I'm Marilyn' could do with being spaced a bit further from the paragraph underneath as the tail of the 'y' is touching it and looks a bit untidy. This paragraph needs spacing after 'travel'.

You have the words 'wonderful' and 'wonderfully' three times in fairly rapid succession on the first page, and given that there aren't a lot of words in total, that's a whole lot of wonderful  ;D. Maybe change at least one to something else (delightfully, enduringly, seductively, beautifully...). 'Airports' doesn't need to be capitalised.

I would maybe change 'email bookings only' to 'email enquiries only' just so it's clear that you will talk on the phone at some point before the appointment - some men might not want to commit to a concrete booking of ?xxx without having spoken to you at least briefly first.

In 'Services', 'affection' needs a comma after. I found the bit of pink text that runs onto the fishnets a bit hard to read, but it's clear enough what it says so it's hardly crucial. And your photos are fab - you can properly see what you look like which is great, but does Moonfruit allow you to go from one to the next without having to close them and go back to the thumbnails?

Testimonials are all very well, but a lot of punters don't take them seriously; if you've got a few reviews on other sites try to put actual links to them in rather than copying and pasting in your own text. If you want to publish nice bits out of 'thank you' emails you've been sent, it's best to check with your client first, just so they know.

On 'Rates', 'additional' needs a capital letter. I would separate the last sentence into it's own paragraph so it's clear that it applies to everybody and not just Forces clients (or if it is aimed at them, make the whole thing one paragraph without the break). The actual numerical fees are a bit staggered - could Tab get the first few in line vertically?

The pink script on the 'Contact' page is a bit far to the left and touching the edge of the frame so I would move it in a little for tidiness. I promise that's it! The site is really brill and I would be very proud of it  :D.

As far as advertising your number goes, it's six and two threes really; I don't answer my phone that often once the day's confirmation calls are out of the way and tend to keep it on vibrate - my website does have the number but also states that the best way to contact me is email and that is how I take most of my bookings. I have found that most initial contact made by phone is from people who want same day bookings which I don't really offer, but if you plan on taking these I would say a phone number would probably be a good idea unless (like me) you really hate talking on it  :-\.

You could always advertise the number but keep the actual phone switched off? Record a clear and friendly voicemail message (and remind callers that the best way to contact you is by email), and then people who want to leave you a message can and you can check them at your convenience, like an answering service.

Beautiful site. But am I the only one seeing ' wherever there should be an apostrophe?

e.g.

"Maralyn's"

this is an HTML entity reference - usually used in HTML code to distinguish between string terminators and actual text apostrophes. Generally when database websites take input (like the text for your website) they convert terminators to entity refs to protect against a common SQL exploit. But they should be rendered in HTML, otherwise you see the above.

You might want to email moonfruit about that, as my suspicion is that they'd have to amend the database from their end to fix it...

*edit* Turns out I am only getting this in Google Chrome, so I guess you'll probably survive. Still, worth talking to Moonfruit about...

Thank you all so much

Amy I really appreciate you being thorough, just what I needed. Especially as I'd usually ask my Dad to proof read these sorts of things, but on this occasion it's best not to  ;D  ;D!

Just to update everyone on the Sugar Daddy dating thing I suggested as I've had a couple of PM's

it's a website for men who are basically in denial that what they need is an escort, most of them are older, married or divorced etc and are happy to give you a monthly allowance of say ?2000 and lots of shopping trips in return for a few dinners out etc.

I've found it to be a great arrangement, but I would advise that you don't explicitly say you're an Escort. It's less transactional, and hey, you might find someone you like.

I would advise having a few 'Sugar Daddies' on the go at the same time! I'd be very happy with 4k income per month and lots of presents.
Put some nice pictures up, and mention explicitly that you live in this country as there are a lot of mail order brides on there apparently!

Hope that answers some of your questions, PM me if you have any more. It's free to join, so why not!

Well done, lovely site, you have done so much better than I did and mine took me about 4 weeks, lol, hence getting a professional website as soon as I could, lol. X
