Hi all,

Hope you're having a good Tuesday evening.

A friend used my room for an incall and her client somehow managed to hose my sheets, pillow cases and duvet cover down with silicone based lube..

I've googled this and people are recommending some serious chemicals that sound like they'd dissolve my sheets.

Any ideas?

Scrubbing the stains with dishwashing liquid then washing as usual seems to work with baby oil stains but not this stuff.

I do massages on the bed with the baby oil and a towel protects the sheets most of the time but then occasionally a client will get their clumsy hands on the baby oil and spill it everywhere so I've had practice with this.

Not too bothered about the sheets as I bought new egyptian cotton ones from tk max today to replace them but would be nice to have an extra set of spares. I'm in a good mood as a client asked if he could give me a massage yesterday and during the massage I felt my back go pop. After he left I realised he's actually fixed a lower back problem I've had for years, been to physios for, had an MRI of etc. Genius. I sent him a thank you txt but if I'd realised sooner I should have given him a tip ;-)

Also another one of my friend's clients spent 20 mins in the shower yesterday and when she knocked to ask if he was ok he said he was 'fixing' the shower. No idea what he did in there but I have more water pressure now.

I hate to say it, but I don't think there's much you can do about the sheets - silicone lube stains terribly and I don't know any way to get it off fabric properly (I had a mark from it on a throw which did eventually come off but only after weeks of going through the regular wash. I suppose it doesn't get mentioned more often because it's normally used so sparingly it's a fairly rare event.

You could try boilwashing (and they'd probably be usable), but I don't rate your chances :-\.

It's a real pain but the silicone stuff is great, I use it for massage as well as lube because I worry about oil and condom breakage.
But it does bugger your sheets. I've found rubbing hard with baby wipes and then a couple of hot washes.
I use cheap sheets now.

are they cotton or polyester/blend?

cotton can take a hot bleach wash. I use silicon and it comes off fairly easily on cotton sheets. Also, be sure to remove any extra bedding accesories from the bed once the client comes in. I may have my bed made when he walks in the room, but I quickly pull off my comforter and decorative pillows.

If your sheets can take a boil wash then I'd do that.  In the meantime (and until the stains fade), you could close the curtains and use mood lighting in your room so they're not as obvious. xx

Thanks for the replies. The sheets are 100% cotton.. I'll try the bleach/boil wash. Yes to the mood lighting. I use red LED lamps which seem to make everyone look a bit sexier and things like marks on the sheets less noticable.

I clean it off myself very well with regular soap bars (Imperial Leather). I suppose I could try it rubbing one on the sheets next time I need to and let you know how it works out...

I always put on white sheets for clients, the silicon lube stains tend to be less obvious on them!!

Most silicone lubes are made of cyclomethicone, dimethicone and other siloxanes, which are insoluble in polar solvents (such as water and alcohol) but soluble in non-polar solvents (like hydrocarbons).  I have used hexane and toluene (from the lab, and I don't particularly recommend bandying them about your bedroom) but you can also use mineral oil (baby oil) and dry cleaning fluid (tetrachloromethane, which is an organic, non-polar solvent).
