Parlour interview - advice/tips? First time
« on: 27 October 2011, 12:53:29 pm »
Hi! I've decided to do parlour work to raise some cash. Not worked in the industry before though. I've rang a place, and the manageress is going to ring me back. What kind of questions should I be asking, and what should I look out for? Also what would be a realistic shift earning? Thanks xx

I haven't worked in a parlour, but to give you some quick answers:

You will be classed as self employed, due to legal reasons. Technically brothels (which a parlour is under the eyes of UK law) are illegal and thus they cannot employ you. You will be responsible for your own tax/NI payments.

Do not give a physical interview as in - you don't have to let the manager try before he lets others buy, so to speak.

Personally I'd treat the interview like any other interview, so go in smartly dressed, normal makeup, nice hair etc.

Workwise, well that depends on the parlour and your own comfort levels, but chances are you'll run into girls working there anyway! x

You can always take a choice of dresses to your first shift and see which one feels best at the time. It's normal (I think) to arrive in everyday clothes and get changed when you arrive - you probably wouldn't want to be strolling about at 10am in an easy-off dress over stockings and lingerie and with a full face of make up on anyway!

There should be a safe place to stash your bag when you arrive after you've gotten changed and put on your makeup if you wear it - ask about this at your interview. Obviously take out your lube and condoms before putting your other things away; it's best to carry these essentials in a separate small bag while you're at work so you always have them by your side and nothing gets lost. You'll need little nappy bags to put used condoms and dirty tissues etc into at the end of every booking, too, because the last thing anyone wants is icky stinky stuff like that strewn about the flat!

Always bring a spare set of underwear and plenty of stockings if you wear them as you could be seeing 10 (or more!) clients a day so it will be on-off-shower-on-off-shower-on-off-shower-on-off-shower pretty much nonstop til the end of your shift. That's about as wearing on lingerie as anything can be, I think. Oh, and of course bring your own wash stuff - gentle feminine hygiene wash is good because you unfortunately can't avoid needing to soap off lube and condom-smell ten times a day, and normal soap will give you guaranteed thrush. The parlour should provide nice towels and shower gel etc for the clients, though.

Don't worry about bringing extra things if you want to be prepared. As I said, you should have a safe spot to stash your stuff (although best not bring any valuables with you, of course) and I think it's likely that you'll be allocated a room at the start of your shift as "your room" for the day to which all your clients will be sent so you should have a drawer or cupboard in here to put things.

There's an article on the main SAAFE site called "Paying Tax" which will give you more information about self-employment and taxes etc. :)

Thanks, that's great! I know I could just ask them, but I don't want to look like the greenest person in the world  :)

Although, the manageress didn't ring back yesterday. Bit surprised cos the receptionist asked me if I could do a shift straight away, so they must be short of girls. Hope she rings today, I've had a spray tan done specially haha!

I have another "trying not to look naive" question lol.

How does the money break down? If say, it's ?15 door fee, ?25 to girl, and then ?10 for an extra, the client pays ?50 total. If the parlour takes 50%, is that a straight ?25 each, or do they keep their ?15 door fee and split the remaining ?35 50/50?

I know it'll vary somewhat, but what would be the usual?

And sorry for being such a pain in the neck, you're all so friendly and helpful xx

You don't sound naive - even if you ask these sorts of things at your interview, they should think you're smart and aware rather than silly! Sensible workers want to know they'll be safe, and their stuff will be safe, and they want to know exactly what they'll be keeping out of their earnings, even if they're brand new to the biz. :)

From my brief experience, if you had ten clients per day (at ?60 each, for simplicity) and did 5 "extras" (at ?10 each), you'd end the say with ?650. You'd only pay your 30% commission on the ?600 though (not on your extras) so that would leave you with ?470 earnings. From that, you'd pay the maid ?10-15 (I think, usually?).

That may be slightly off because they might just take ?20 out of every ?60 you earn which means you'd keep ?400 for seeing 10 clients, plus your extras money on top. Sorry - I'm just about to be late for something and don't have time to figure out why my maths is odd! But I just wanted to say none of your questions are silly at all - and luckily, some more knowledgable women will be along shortly to help you better. :D

When is/was your interview? Did you hear from the manager yet? It's okay to call them again - although, if they are disorganised, you might not end up wanting to work for them at all. There are lots of possible places out there, though, so keep looking!

Thanks, that's fab!

They've not called back yet, but I'm planning to get a separate work phone (I've done a profile on AW this aft), so I could ring them to tell them the new number. TBH I'm kind of glad, if they're looking for immediate start, weekend might be throwing myself in at the deep end a bit. A nice Tuesday morning would be better for my first day as a WG I think :)

Make sure the place doesn't have a front door that can be kicked in as these places get robbed unfortunately. Watch your stuff like a hawk as some girls are known to nick your shoes, condoms. makeup etc. xx
I'm glad I got all the Cynthia Payne books before the prices rocked to sky high.

My brain is running on slow tonight but go with most that has been said (have worked in parlours, but 10+ years ago).....my main comment to add at present is don't presume (check) you'll be allocated 'your' room for the day esp if it's a smaller set up - I've worked places that have two available rooms but three/four girls on a shift, so it been first come first served.   Be prepared to keep your own stuff safely with you if necessary.

As said,  present yourself well in 'normal' clothes and feel free to ask as many questions as you feel the need to. Good Luck x

Thanks! Although at this rate I'm more likely to pop my WG cherry through AW than a parlour job. That might be better really, just one rather than 10!

Now I'm going to read this ENTIRE site again, with an escort view rather than a parlour girl view  ;D

Thanks everyone xxx

Update on the parlour/AW thing lol!

Have decided to go with just independent escorting, using AW. Been getting enough bookings/enquiries there, and obvs you can make as much in an hour as you would a 12 hour shift in a parlour.
I heard nothing back from the original parlour about an interview, so figured they weren't looking and forgot about it. This afternoon, they got in touch to see if I would do any shifts! They've not even clapped eyes on me, so I'm guessing they mustn't be too fussy, for all they know I could be some absolute crackhead with 1 tooth and eyes that point in different directions (I'm not, I've got 3 teeth and one isn't even black)

And yes, I've changed my username! It was the same as on AW, and I've decided I want the freedom to moan on here about stuff without getting rumbled  ;)
