Escorting and catching bugs
« on: 19 July 2021, 03:18:43 pm »
Does anyone else find that they catch bugs/viruses quite easily in this line of work?

I tend to look after myself and am generally in good health but every few months I seem to get run down or come down with something. Last week I had just got over a stomach bug and straight after, started with a head cold.

I am medium to high volume so can only guess it is being in close proximity with so many people doing this job.

There is always the risk sure
Do you have low immune system usually ?
Maybe if your not already a vitamin boost might help it's what was suggested or supplements

No I can't say I've experienced it, I like high volume and think the more I see the more resistance I have.

Not really, no. I've always tended to get one or two colds a year, and it didn't really change between commuting into London on packed trains and then sharing a huge office, or being at home 90 percent of the time and seeing quite a few clients a week (in the few months escorting was my only job). I think a lot of men are either sensible or just don't feel like punting if they have a cold, so they're not a big risk.

I very rarely get ill these days (touch wood!) and kind of put it down to getting little doses of everyone's germs so much that my immune system just got beefed up to compensate lol

Maybe it's just me then or maybe I am just catching whatever is doing the rounds.

I probably need to take a bit more time out as I'll happily work 7 days a week if requested and have been working harder with green light since last autumn.

Yes @Kiss I might look at taking something to boost my defences. Thank you  :)

Me too - like Kay I get maybe one or two nasty colds a year and the last time I had an upset stomach from anything that wasn't my own fault was when I had The Covid :D

I don't think anybody can decide for anybody else what would be overdoing it, but I'm always mildly horrified when I read on here that there are people who work every day without days off. It's something of a hangover from crap civvy jobs with me and always having to work weekends/at holiday times, but I could no more work on a Sunday now than I could fly myself to my flat and back, and whilst I'll take whatever bookings I like the sound of I rarely do more than four days a week if I've been busy :)

I'd say the first couple of years, I got many more minor illnesses than I'd have experienced previously. Nothing serious, but on a par with when my son was at school and brought home every cough and cold going. Then - I think - my immune system beefed up, and for the last 3 years I've barely had a cold.

I eat very very healthily and take a prescribed multivitamin daily, so that undoubtedly helps. If you're getting frequent illnesses that you didn't get before sex work, defo start taking a multivit, I'd suggest getting Foreceval. It's not on the shelves but it's available at the pharmacy counter if you ask. If you menstruate regularly, also take ferrous fumarate (again available without prescription OTC.) You won't see immediate results but if you track your health daily, you'll see the results in 3 months. And summer is definitely the time to start since so many bugs are virulent in winter.
