When you say you are worried 'he won't turn up' what do you mean? Are you meeting him in a public place?

If it's a Hotel, I wouldn't even begin to travel until he has arrived there and I've spoken to him on his room phone.
He can check in from early afternoon and chill out till you arrive.

I personally never trust a Hotel booking reservation as it can easily be cancelled and you won't have his room number if he starts to play silly beggars.
If you are going to his home you need his full name, address and landline number. If he can't supply all of these at the time of booking don't go.
I have been Outcall only for 3 years, travel everywhere and can count on one hand the number of times I have had a wasted journey.
As Rooby said, 'talking for days' is a real sign of a Timewaster.
I would ask for a deposit aswell with this one, incase he simply 'bottles it' last minute..
