I haven't been doing this to long but I purely went on AW feedback, and so far only 1 has been wrong but that was to a hotel (just yesterday!) Thankfully he was meant to meet me downstairs so it's not like I went knocking on the wrong door.
I am going to start requesting something from now on, whether its calling the hotel and being put through to his room or bill statement. I would have thought if bills are online they would still show up the address the bill is for so I don't believe that would be a valid excuse!
Sorry this probably isn't helpful at all but thought I'd share my experience. Bottom line: majority of going on AW feedback has worked for me

For outcalls to private residences I tried asking for landline number or bill when I first started but majority of people now dont have a landline phone and those that did always seemed to be X directory and bills always seemed to be at least 6 months old. So I now just require a deposit that at leasts covers my travel and if they aren't willing to pay it then I'm not willing to see them.

If you don’t do outcalls, then proof of residential address probably isn’t as vital for those who visit men at their home.

If feedback is lacking, not recent or only from cam girls, I often request names of other escorts they’ve seen recently, and some kind of verifiable proof of identity, maybe a Linkedin profile or email from their work/place of business email. If a man won’t share any of this, or even his real name, I won’t see him.

But, we all have our own processes. Even if he provides everything I’ve requested, I still might not see him.

It's not the name that's important - it's to prove that they are where they say they are. If they tell you they are at 85 London Road, and their water bill has that address on dated last week, you can be pretty sure they are at that address.

It is partly for security but mostly to avoid wasted travel costs for a hoax outcall (ie you being out of pocket for return taxi fare when you have to turn round and go home cos no one answered the door).

Most men are reluctant to do this. I simply ask for their address, text it to my security buddy, and insist on return travel costs before I leave, usually by bank transfer. Then when I arrive, I check that the door number etc. matches the address I texted my security buddy, and text him to confirm.

I only ever do outcalls if they provide proof of address via a bill in last 3 months and needs to be official bill. Mainly to avoid hoax outcalls and safety reasons. Most will be happy to provide proof of the address as they understand safety side and that weirdos try to do fake bookings. Anyone who will not provide it i would not trust and will turn them down.

If they have a problem reassuring you it is a genuine booking by doing this then why would they want a escort visiting there home anyway.

Before camera phones/ smart phones came in there was so many fake bookings for outcalls where people would just take a mobile number and trust they live where they say and this method will stop a lot of the fake bookings.

I always offer them the choice of small deposit (and often I accept just £10 voucher, depending on my gut instinct and distance from me) or proof of address.
I stress that it's their choice, so they can't accuse me of conning them.

Once in a blue moon when all else has failed, I accept a photo of their open front door with the number showing..
You'd be surprised how many simply show just the door number - missing the point entirely 

Like English Green said, for me it's to prevent fake Outcalls and also they have 'invested' something into the arrangement and are less likely to cancel I think

I do get caught out sometimes, usually when I am already out  in my car and too rushed to wait for details.
 It makes me absolutely bloody livid, so I try to avoid getting caught out
