Do teeth implants affect OWO?
« on: 18 June 2024, 12:38:26 pm »
I’m considering getting implants for 2 back molars and wondered if anyone has had this done and if it affected OWO.
I use my mouth a lot. At the moment I have no teeth there and recovering from extraction.
Any experiences of having a couple of implants (not full mouth) and any effect on sucking would be appreciated.

I have a couple of implants and no problems.  However, bear in mind that when they put the post in and stitch it over it is an open wound for a while.  Basically they cut you to put the post in then stitch it then you generally have to wait 3 months for the post to settle in the gum then you get the tooth/crown

If it's upper jaw then sometimes you have to have a bone graft first but not sure if that leaves an open wound for a while as mine were lower jaw.

But after everything has settled everything is fine and it's just like having your real teeth.

It’s my lower left jaw. My friend took a month off but she had a whole set done.

I've had a molar done, once the peg is in and it's healed safely you're good to go x

Would 4 weeks be enough time off after they’ve put the post in (the first part of the procedure)?

I’d struggle to afford more time off.
