Not much spare cash, would it be too risky if...
« on: 21 July 2014, 05:01:35 pm »
I spared the cash for an open return ticket train ticket, booked 1 night for a hotel in London & just live day to day for a little city break. (I am aware i will probably have to hotel switch if i'll be booking it night by night else it will look dodgy but that is fine)

I've had so many people asking if i'm coming to London since i changed my profile it's crazy. I'd like to give it a go down there given my niche. I cost up the price of an actual tour/city break but because i want to holiday there too it was a good ?2000 for a week of cramming fun & work in. So if i just made it up as i go along would that be suffice, i mean if all things go bad, i have the return ticket O:)?

TBH that is what i was doing when i first started, My first month out of a hotel saving for an apartment (i don't want to live down there mind you, just have a pricey city break is all). A bit DIY is all i'm worried about.

Opinions... i really want to do this but undecided?

Ill admit to knowing absolutely nothing about London bar that it is the capital of England, after that I am not interested.  Its not a place that has ever interested me.  I prefer smaller towns, but that is digressing.  Apologies.

Be careful that the guys who asked when you are visiting London for like anywhere else, these guys seem to disappear into the woodwork once you arrive and as London is so expensive it can be an expensive mistake.  I wouldnt want you to miss out and lose on your trip for guys.

Please be careful.

It depends on just how far you're travelling, but open returns are the most expensive sort of ticket you can get in their class. It'd be cheaper to book an advance single for a day or two's time and keep enough for a coach journey back if you need it.

If you book different hotels from day to day, you have to move between them (duh) and that usually means leaving by say 10am and not being allowed into the next place several hours later = you've missed that day's lunchtime trade.

Very very few hotels are going to moan about you extending your stay by a day at a time, especially if you have paid for the next day before you'd have to check out.

Will it be worth it? No idea. What's the niche and how many of the people asking you to come to London are prepared to give you a deposit?
'The Ian formerly known as SW5'. What they said: "Indispensable", "You are our best resource", and (hours later!) "I'm afraid that you're being made redundant..."
