Nuisance text messages

I've got a few clients I'm happy to text often as they're intelligent and respectful and it's usually regarding a booking/something we've talked about

Then there's the "Hi babe, how u doing today"ones...sure I don't need to explain to anyone here but it's constant and inane

I seem to have acquired a new one (he's had one app so far) and is coming today so I'd like to nip this in the bud

any ideas how to not dampen the mood of the booking but make it clear this isn't a social thing (I'm also with someone at the moment)

Some times texting can become a bit like a drag text tennis. So after one or two texts I polity encourage them to phone me to enquire. Even like yesterday he made a booking verbally. Then the texts began with what to expect etc. So asked him to phone me. He did and explained that was his first time. But being certain via text is impossible. Even those who met before ask to phone me as do not store numbers.

I wouldn't bring it up in the booking. Wait until he starts doing it again, if he does and then ask him to call as it's easier for you and say firmly you won't be replying to any more texts.

Thing is I don't want to chat to him via text or phone call, unless it's about work.
He's just asking how I am/have I been busy

I would reply and say yes, you'll see him later and won't be able to reply to any further texts as you're busy.

If he's really becoming a pain just stop seeing him altogether, they're just not worth it when you spend more time texting them than actually seeing them.

You could also try telling him you're an escort and not a phone chat operator so you're not able to chat etc when it's not regarding a booking.
