Not confirming
« on: 18 July 2014, 09:35:07 am »
I don't know if my tw senses are failing me or if guys are just getting clever, but I've had a spate of guys ring for bookings, all of them sounding genuine (polite, asking the right questions etc.) and then on the day not confirming their bookings.  They may have genuinely forgot, but it does seem to be happening a lot this week.

I have spates like this.

At the moment I am finding a lot of guys are asking for a particular time (ish), say they'll confirm on the day/at a later time and it's guess work as to whether it's a definite booking or not! Some mean they it's just a general enquiry to check out your availability, others are definite.

I always ask a guy to confirm about 9am on the day, and if I haven't heard from them by 9.30 then I'll give the booking to the next person who rings.  The chap that was supposed to confirm this morning did actually ring at 9.35 and unfortunately for him someone had rung a few minutes before and I give away his booking.  On this occasion this chap got held up and he apologised, so I mentioned if he decides to re-book and he gets stuck in a situation like this again, just bob me a quick text to tell me he is still coming.
I suppose it can be difficult if situations change and guys are unable to ring, but if I don't know then unless they call later on to explain I'll assume they're tw's, like the one who sounded genuine on Monday and didn't bother to confirm yesterday.

Ah well.  It's the weekend :)

I've learned to give a definite time scale, eg confirm by 10am or 9.30am-10am that way you've given a clear window. I found that if you give a time for instance 9am, you do get guys confirming at 5 past, 10 past, half past, quarter to ten and you need a definite cut off time. If you've given a window then it gives them a good opportunity and after that it's up to you.
