no shows
« on: 12 January 2020, 01:52:25 pm »
im quite pissed at the fact that sometimes i hold a slot for someone who has made a booking for that time and i turn others away as im very formal and then the dude doesn't show up and doesn't even cancel. It bothers me bc i could hv given that time to someone else. Do you send any threathing messages in the lines of "hi im blocking you for future bookings since you haven't turned up nor cancelled", or do you ignore and move on. HOnestly this been happening to me a lot lately.
why have cotton when you can have silk???

I’ve had it lately as well when I’ve been available, I wish AW would have a system that didn’t allow non AW members to get our numbers, like if we have to verify who we are then so should they, and maybe they should pay a one off yearly fee to join and this would give them access to the site and if registered with AW and they were known to be time wasters then they could be banned from joining again for a certain amount of time, it would certainly almost stop the time wasting to a degree, but I can wish!

...and sometimes I send a message and other times I ignore, it all depends on my mood, and purse, at the time.

I don't give no shows or timewasters the satisfaction. I ignore them  but they don't get a second chance. I usually just block them without any further communication. If they cancel in good time they get one more chance.

No never. As they can change their sim and do it to someone else.
It's better they keep their numbers.

It may let off steam but achieves nothing practical. If they aim to upset you, it gives them more of a laugh I think.

I try not to refuse anyone and double book and have a 'reserve list', they can agree to join.
I'm open about the list..eg 'If my 3.00 cancells, you can have it, would you like that?'. So he's ready to roll in a few minutes and replace the donkey.

I find one will turn up when double booked, same with triple.
It's a wierd pattern I don't understand.
Clients will often be patient and have a coffee or two and wait for you to be free.

When I displayed my phone number, I had a first-come-first-serve policy.

I just ignore it and block/save the number along with the time & date. Sending messages is futile - it won't get you paid and as Salty says it's just giving the malicious ones the reaction they want.

Are you getting them to confirm close to the time of the booking? Even if it's fairly short notice, getting them to reply to a text you send setting out something like the time/booking length and your landmark can weed out an awful lot of tyrekickers :)

Deposits for all. Not foolproof but they generally accept that they are non refundable

I now do this also. If they haven’t booked through AW there’s like a 50/50 chance they will show so might as well double my odds...well sort of kinda

Fewer than 1% of my bookings use AW and I get hardly any no shows. I don't find there to be any link at all.

All my clients need to confirm at an agreed time (usually when they are leaving to come to me) and if I don't get the confirmation I send a text telling them that their appointment is cancelled as I didn't receive confirmation.

The genuine ones get back asap. If I don't get a pretty much immediate response I just move on to the next booking.

I never send anything inflammatory as it's counterproductive and you never know who you are dealing with plus it's a waste of my energy. Unlike a lot of other ladies, I do block undersireables as my phone then doesn't receive calls or texts from them. Obviously, if they get a new sim or phone then I won't know anyway but I've never had anyone go that trouble.

Tbh, I tend to have a feeling when they book if they are going to be flaky so I will take a standby appointment (I ask the client if he would like to be on my reserve list).

If I'm in an area where I know or decide a lot are trying to waste my time then I throw my appointment system out the window and work on a first come first served basis.

That way, I am always in control and whilst I do get clients who don't confirm, I very, very rarely get a no show.

(I did have some cunt at Southend who confirmed, said he was leaving and then never turned up but thankfully that type behaviour is so rare, I thought it worth a mention  ;D)

I dont agree but what I DO find is that 50% of advance booking cancel through AW so i dont take them any more than one day before.

yes i get them to confirm  and no comfirmation is an automatic cancellation from my side. The no show problem i mosthly hv it with those who book 10-30 min before as in saying hey are you in x area oh yeah can i be there in 30 min time im in your area too. The short notice ones are the highest rate of no shows for me.

Most of mine are 10-30 minutes notice which I like. I cope with the, 'will he/won't he', by popping out to do grocery shopping, having a walk in the sunshine, buying a coffee or ice cream or whatever till they're standing on the landmark. They can chill and wait 5 minutes for me to return and be ready. My main aim is not to sit indoors like a caged hen. If they call fine...if not fine... I'm in the coffee shop enjoying my lovely day. :)
