Hello all, I have worked in the industry for a few years and wouldn't necessarily consider myself a newcomer, but I have never worked out of country yet.
I've been lurking your forums and it seems like the way I work here is very different to the way you guys work there, so I have a few questions.
Where I live in Canada it is MUCH safer to work for an agency, even though it's legal here and regulated by the city. I have to have a city license that I must carry with me on all calls that shows I'm working legally. Even though this is a smaller city and it is legal, being an indie girl here is not something I would consider just for safety. Agencies here also don't take 50%, my agency charges the client a flat rate for me to arrive at the door, and then only takes 10% of my fee (which they never pre-negotiate for me), plus the lady I work for is wonderful and actually cares about her girls' safety.
Because of this, and how much easier I find it not having to do any of my own advertising, I was leaning towards agency work coming there.
I have never done indie work, but reading through a few of these posts about agencies vs. indie, it has made me wonder if I'm making the right choice. I feel like since I have to line something up before leaving my own country, I need a good handle on the best option for me.
So my questions are, how can I be sure I am talking with a legitimate, reputable agency? (Other than googling their name, are there any other places that might have reviews or good information I could check?)
And if I choose to go independent, how difficult is it to set up my own advertising, how far in advance would I want to put ads up, and is it possible for me to get a UK phone number from here to use in my ads, or should I wait until I arrive? Is it a good idea to have your own personal website, or are they overrated?
Also, here girls only do incall in massage parlours, and rarely if ever in their homes. Is it much more normal there to offer incall in your home? Is it common for girls to only offer outcalls?
Well, I think those are all the questions I have for now, *phew*.
Thank you for your time!
